Re: dog v badger on youtube, please contact them to remove it

your right prison is useless. I've heared people saying its easyer to be in prison away from their constantly arguing parents or bad lifestyle. But still its not an excuse to abuse animals is it?

Please don't be angry at me, I'm just making a point!
True they should be punnished in some way, but im not sure whether imprisonment would help, one thing they're overcrowded anyway and when they grt out more often than not they reoffend.
Not sure how else they could be punished though

I know it's not a punishment... but they could be made to help the community! Eg. walk dogs... help build houses... help out in the local soup kitchen... reading to children! It could help them to change their ways!

I think you have a lot of good ideas Greenish Many boys (especially boys, girls with problems often deal with it differently), who aren't getting much out of life, who don't get success at school, and who may have a background of family problems, don't know how to behave in a civilised way, and don't see any reason for doing so. Maybe some of them will regret it when they are older people, although some will always be bad through and through! More facilities for young people and punishments such as you suggest that teach them about the impact of their actions on other people and animals are good ideas. Also filling people's time up with positive things to do instead of boredom leading to finding identity through gangs, drugs, vandalism and cruelty. And employment too, getting everyone into the system and seeing a point and positive purpose in life. Prisons in the UK are overflowing, seems a waste somehow

young people today don't want to do these things. They thrive on trouble. There may be a small minority that could be reached, the rest I would just have put out of their misery. As for Badger baiting, it's not soley youths doing this sort of thing. There are many grown men with previous convictions that still continue to do it, reason being, they enjoy it and will not stop no matter what. This country is already turning into a nanny state as it is. I want proper punishments that fit the crime, not community service for drink driving and killing a 6 year old girl. Sure prisons are over full, that, in my opinion is because the country is over full and there are no deterrents to make people stop and think twice.
I'm not having a go at you personally but it's high time the victims of crime were given the priority.

Badger baiting is commonly associated with areas of social deprivation. In my area where baiting and digging is quite common, most of them come from the south wales valleys and Cardiff. Another area where it's prevalent are northern towns with high unemployment and poor prospects. It would be better if fewer younger people were drawn to this kind of cruel practice in the first place by the experienced.
The hardened ones should be imprisoned and throw away the key, rather than just a fine, which doesn't seem to be enough of a deterrent.

Your quite right a lot if it does happen here in South Wales. I live in a town between Swansea and Neath called BritonFerry. The woods on the mountain has allot of Badger setts and loads of squirrels. Throwing stones at squirrels is a summer pass time here for some kids. And a particularly old Badger sett was destroyed not so long ago. Its really more down to boredom rather than wanting to cause trouble adults dont understand that. One thing that i can ganrantee to get some interest would be a bike jump trail. There are 2 that know of one 7 miles away in Swansea called Clyne and one up Dyffryn wich is about 4-5 miles away. If there where more of these or maybe biking clubs around i think it would get loads of boys interested and where all the boys go the girls go to.

I'm all for providing more things for kids to do. Biking clubs and skate boarding parks would all get the thumbs up from me.
