My personal favourite sunday brunch when you've been in bed for ages rebelling against the daylight and have only got up for the hunger.
It's easy - slice or two of bread, bowl of beaten egg (with a little salt maybe). Fying pan on the hob with some hot veg or sunflower oil (better for crispyness than olive oil I find). Dunk in your bread, both sides (leaving a couple of corners dry) fry on both sides until beautiful golden brown then retreat to the sofa with a duvet, the telly on and and a cup of tea. Eat with fingers so don't have it when you intend to be on the forum because you'll mess your keyboard up...
That's it.....

It might at least provide a very minor silver lining if England lose to Sweden and fail to qualify for the knock out stages.
My money's still on Brazil.

Maybe you should start a new thread 'easy recipies for busy folk' or something!! esp if you can incorporate hedgerow rations too! like blackberry wine or elderflower champagne (not that I can remember those recipies myself.......) |

I do have plenty of time to cook but don't prioritise. Maybe I should get some books in off Amazon and start a new hobby for the summer. I will buy this week a barbecue also for the back garden. |

well you mentioned single blokes before and I though well that excludes single ladies and then what about married folks who's other halves are away a lot so I came up with 'busy folk' as a compromise.
Ooooh top tip with BBQ.
get a camembert or similar rond rinded cheese. cut a cross in the top and sprinlke over finely chopped garlic, orange rind, black pepper herbs of your choice wrap the whole lot in foil (wooden box, wax paper and all )thenput it right on the edge of the BBQ until hot then unwrap and dunk in nachos or toast triangles blisss......... |

| | | Re: World Cup Sweepstake Yes, my food bill is going to be beaucoup if I try all these out, but they sound so good that I may have to do a Saino's run in the morning and get involved in some practice then have some garden parties. Today I had a flan. I have not had a flan in years. I also had some gratin, which I do like alot and shall make also. |

| | | Re: World Cup Sweepstake Ah I get on very well with the slow cooker indeed. I have been making mostly caseroles and lovely thick soups. I guess now I just take it for granted but it is just so easy to use. I prepare everything in the evening, load it in the morning and come back to a fabulous smelling house the next tea-time. Now I am snacking more as I don't want to be in the house at all. When the weather is fine I want to be ourdoors for a walk, or take a bike ride, so just want something easy to put together. Today I have a soup from it that I froze. Best thing is I cant remember what I put in it so it will be a nice surprise when I heat it up again. |

But nevermind I forgive you boddie, and I'll share my single bloke toastie recipe - bread (obviously), with a processed chese slice, then a layer of boursin, mmm yummy. works even better as a toasted sarnie, though you need two slices of processed cheese for that.
Also for an even quicker meal White bread sandwich , buttered and then philidelphia on one slice, thick cut marmalade on the other and wop 'em together. mmmmm taste the cheesy goodness....

Curly Wurly's.
When I lived abroad we could not get these. Every time someone came back to the UK we would ask that they got Curly Wurly's, Chicken Flavoured Walkers Crisps and my favourite --- Midget Gems. Oh and that old drink, Quattro, which you cant buy anymore. Also the old 5 pence pieces were the same size as 1 deutchmark pieces, so with the deutchmark at 30 odd pence quite a saving was to be had when calling the UK or rinsing out the fruit machines and the like. Not that I ever did this of course. Whoever did secure the items was top boy for months.

| | | Re: World Cup Sweepstake You presume wrong as we have Czech Republic and the good old US of A. So we have Staropramen for Czech and Bub for SPAM. Shame it isnt the Womens World Cup, as it is the national sport for females in the US. I bet one of the best games of the tournament will be when the US play at Rammstein however.
