| | | Ladybird Books: What to look for in... Just wondered if anyone remembers or owns the Ladybird Series "What to look for in Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter (4 vols.) I recently acquired them and can vaguely recall them from my junior school days (in the late 50s/early 60s).
The text is very good and the facing illustrations by Tunnicliffe terrific - an instant nostalgia hit! One of the illustrations in the Autumn volume shows a bonfire scene being looked down upon by a Tawny Owl in a pine tree. I can remember that one from 45years back and it still causes a certain frisson.
Does anyone out there knlow these books and have a favourire illustration? |

The plates of those Ladybird books were amazing + really whetted my appetite for wild things as an urban kid who saw hardly any wildlife or at the time knew nobody else who was into wildlife. Certainly one of my early influences.
Next came the Observer books! |
