I have recently moved to Northumberland and now that I am almost settled in I am beginning to wonder where abouts I can go to see the wildlife. I'm quite lucky to be within driving distance of most of Northumberland, the Pennines, some of North Yorkshire and parts of the Scottish lowlands, so if anyone has any good wildlife watching spots please share where they are with me and my camera

It depends what youre most interested in seeing Sarah(birds/mammals etc).....if you give me an idea of what youre wanting to see I can pm you some good locations.

Mark H | Everything! I'm not fussy about the wildlife I see. I'm just as happy bug hunting as searching out the birdies!

Both the North York Moors and Dalby Forest are amazing site's near me, as well as the North Yorkshire coastline. Maybe a little south for you but great if you get the chance.

Lucky you, Sarah. I love Northumberland. I guess I am a bit biased being born there but I have not lived there for nearly 40 years! Still love to visit, though.
I love the coastline from the Tyne to the Tweed. St Mary's Island is worth a visit (near Whitley Bay and Seaton Sluice). My favourite area is Bamburgh and of course the Farne islands, just off Seahouses. Then there is Holy Island just to the north.
There is also Kielder Forest and reservoir - lots of wildlife around there.
Just over the border into Scotland is a wonderful area around St Abbs Head - masses of seabirds, stunning scenery and a wonderful marine park if you are into diving.
The only problem with Northumberland is the cold - several degrees colder than around here, all year. The wind just whistles down from the North Pole!

hi sarah ive had the privilege to stalk around the town of alnwick in northumberland what a beautiful place plenty of deer saw two goshawks theres a wild herd of ancient cattle not far from alnwick just a fantastic place for wild life | |
