The only other useful ones that I've seen as they are often used as the opening or closing word/text :
IIRC = If I remember correctly
TBH = To be honest
Took me an age to work those out
I also translate IMHO as 'in my humble opinion' which is different to how you interpret the abbreviation. This really goes someway to demonstrate that people should not be lazy and instead should be typing out the full word to save any confusion. In my experience, I have noticed that the more core users who use these expressions, the more they will crop up until every thread will have abbreviations of some kind.
HTH Hope that helps  |

| | | Re: A Little Winge The trouble is you can tell me till the cows come home (cch?) what all these things mean, but by tomorrow I will have forgotten them. They just aren't in my vocabulary... so my brain just refuses to remember them.
I agree that to stop any confusion it's much better to write things out in full.
Why not just keep posts short and to the point?
Instead of saying IMHO (in my humble opinion) say "I think", instead of ROFL (rolls on floor laughing) say "funny!" - quite simple really...

I think the whole point about this is that for abbreviations to work everyone involved must understand them. WAB would probably be understood by everyone on this forum but out in the wider world it would mean something different. And ask a selection of people what AA stands for ...
Of course everyone has a right to write what they like but surely the aim of writing is to communicate something. If the person receiving the message doesn't understand it then your'e not communicating and are wasting your own and other peoples' time ... |

AA = Automobile Association, i.e. the 5th emergency service.
However this ones going to get you reaching for those spoons the ultimate abbreviation which I have already used in this post:
i.e. = ????
We all use it...we all understand it...but what is it short for?
A bonus point is available for the similarly used 'e.g.' too. |

But to some people AA means Alcoholics Anonymous or, for people of a certain age, Anti-Apartheid also some others that I can't remember at this time of night .... try a Google ... Quote:
