snow leopard documentary

i was up late again last night (or should i say early morning). i watched the bbc documentary on the snow leopard again!! are these not one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet? watching these animals in there natural habitat is a rare sight but hats off to the film makers for such a priviledged view of one of our most elusive creatures. seeing the markhor dicing with death on the slopes during their rut was amazing, so to see the snow leopard equal to their skills successfully hunting gives hope to the survival of the legend that is the snow leopard.

Re: snow leopard documentary

Certainly the steepness is impressive. I can imagine inching my way up something like that, heart in mouth, when some dizzy Markor falls past under perfect control.

Re: snow leopard documentary

Now you know where the Phrase " as sure footed as a goat" comes from.
The pads on those snow leopards were big, wern't they?

I didn't like seeing the leopard with that bright collar on, it seemed alien to the film about a wild and rarely filmed creature, I kind of felt that the research team should not have done it. how did you guys feel about that?

Duncan

Re: snow leopard documentary

yes mate it was awful to watch.. especially when the same leopard was snared again horrible. i ask myself the same question often, does what we learn make it worth it. i've photographed birds with rings. where the rings have been too tight and caused disfigurement to the legs of the birds, not to mention stress & pain.
