God knows why they use a picture of a Red Squirrel as we all know that there are none in the New Forest. They had a cracking time and the lodges were superb by all accounts, my brother was stood outside one night having a smoke and he saw a Badger wandering down a track the lucky swine!!

Sounds great Stewy..

What the hell do you do with squirrel poo.
Your not going to feed that enormous sunflower with it are you

Re: where are you going for holls?

Off to the South of France tomorrow with the children camping. Staying near the Gorge du Verdon. Have spent time there as a child staying with my nana and am going to show family where I used to go. Lots of mountains, lavender, cistus, olives, and all that lovely stuff!!!
Not sure what we are in for wildlife wise, will keep a good look out for surprises.
Looking forward to relaxing with a pastis.

Re: where are you going for holls?

Since we bought the Eriba Puck caravan,we have been away every other weekend
Favourites are Damage Barton, Slapton and Wareham (oh!and Whitby). These put us in the midst of some of the best wildlife country there is (in my opinion) we like the sea, we like the coast, we like the deep lanes with their micro climates.
We do look at other countries; China, New Zealand, Wales etc but with the touring caravan Britain is beautiful and available

Re: where are you going for holls?

We are going to book a week on Jersey tonight, any hints, tips, places to visit, nice pubs, restaurants, things to do/see etc,etc..........?

The week we are looking at going is apparently battle of the blooms whatever that is?

Ah! It's battle of flowers!

Hehe, closest thing I've heard to ghosts at Postbridge is nightjars... they did a brilliant nightjar walk there the other weekend. They flew right out in front of us... amazing. Did anyone else go on this? If you did, there was no mistaking me... only teenage girl in the group!

I went to Turkey with my little cousins this year... one of my uncles lives out there. Some weird and wonderful insect life, including a clumsy locust the length of my index finger and some fascinating ant-lions. There was also a lot of sing-song from birds we find special. A cuckoo was constantly calling by day, and at night we were treated to a nightingale every so often. Gorgeous!

Re: where are you going for holls?

I'm going to Bala this summer for the first time. Will get lots of sailing in and hopefully learn to crew. Want to do trapezing* too
Going to Salcombe after that. Such a beautiful place. Love it
Sarah

*trapezing - where you're attached by a line to the top of the mast and you lean out of the boat by standing on the edge to level the boat out when it's tipped over by the wind!! Sounds so cool!!! I usually do a more tame version called "hiking" where you slip your feet under some staps in the bottom of the boat and lean out. Tis fuuuuuun!
