| Tormentil, Just north of Winnepeg is a good birding site called Oak Hammock Marsh see the link About Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre
We went there in April whilst we were in the area on our west to east coast trip. Unfortunatly when we were there is was very cold, still in minus temperatures but we did manage to see a few birds. Lots of little gophers there too. I am sure in the summer it will have so many birds there, well worth a visit if you are into birding.
On the website there is a bird sighting section which will give you some idea of whats there. |

Dave P. | We went to the IOW last year and I was determined to see a Red Squirrel but had no luck apart from a rather squished one in the middle of the road.
Spent a good few hours wandering around here looking for them but no luck i'm afraid. Gift to Nature - Red Squirrel Safari, Parkhurst Forest
First time I've ever been and had a fantastic time though, found my first Prince shroom which was nice! |

| | | Re: where are you going for holls? Nowhere yet - it's going to be a very tight financial year as the wife finishes being a student and gets a real job - it just means that any grants etc. she gets will stop (OK, only worth a £150-ish per month, but still very valuable), and we reckon by the time she gets a job we'll be a bit (lot ) broke - so the odd weekend away is all at the moment.
I really want to go to North Scotland for the longest day (camping), and also visit a couple of the Scottish islands - we'll just have to see!
I too love Cornwall - used to go every year as a kid. I wonder how much it's changed? I also want to go back to the Eden project - I went in the spring not long after it had opened. |

| | | Re: where are you going for holls? I'm off to Banff (canada) for a 2-week snowboarding holiday in April and will be diving for a week in Scapa flow, a weekend in the sound of Mull and a weekend in the Farne Islands (all being well!), which I'm really looking forward to As long as I dont' break my leg boarding, it'll be ace to get back in the water properly again!
Otherwise, I want to get out to the seabird colonies at Staffa and the Isle of May for some photography in between going out for work on the trawlers. I can see it being an action-packed year if I get my way, but last year sucked so it's time to make up for it!

Found a smashing country hotel up on the cliffs just outside Saundersfoot, a short trip to Cardigan Island and you can watch Dolphins and Grey Seals from the cliff top. During the evening you can sit in the hotel bar and watch Badgers and Fox's feeding on scraps put out by the hotel staff.

Yes it is the same place. We enjoyed are first stay so much we are going again in August this year. So much to see and do, never seem to cram it all in.
Here is one of my night time shots taken from the fire escape.
