Wow you really do have a style that's good, did you say you were an artist? The skirt trousers thing was done very badly by a lot of people when it was around, you do kind of have to be a certain shape and the skirt has to be quite tight and a lot of the time you'd look at the girl and see that the outfit without the trousers would look better! Having said that some of those gorgeous ladies from india (or is it pakistan? - I wish you could be a field guide to people!!) with their floaty skirts (saris?) and light floaty trousers (I'm sure I'm using the wrong words) look absolutely fantastic - though I don't think they'd wear the hobnails I'm sure they'd wear the multicoloured clogs!!

The item of clothing you are talking of Gill is known as a salwar kameez. My dad's side of the family are from the Pakistani/Afghan border so im always getting loads of clothes from relatives. I love wearing them as they are really comfortable and keep you nice and cool in the summer - I have never tried wearing one with muticoloured clogs as of yet..will have to give it a go

I thought you might have been one of those mysterious eastern ladies, and I was right . As for my family, on my dad's side I'm related to Lord Wellington, and on my mothers side, General Custard - honest

They're just so elegant, pretty and feminine.
See I wish you could buy a field guide to people, I'd love to be able to tell by a person's facial features and bonestructure where in the world they or their ancestors came from. I suppose it would be too complicated a thing to pull together.
I wonder if you can still detect roman ancestry in modern britains if you know what to look for....
oh oops I've wondered off the thread a bit haven't I... apologies Boddie

My favourite! I grew up running about in it...
Too many deer now that's all.
It's just a lovely area of ancient woodland to escape to. There's a fantastic 3/4 of a mile long disused railway tunnel I used to walk through as a kid, has it's own stalagtites and everything and if you stood at a certain point in the middle you couldn't see either end - which is pretty scarey as a kid! but it's protected now as it's of huge value to bats!
If you're there at night go see if there's still glow worms on the old railway line! I haven't had a chance to get down there yet this year. weekend-after-next probably!

I will be sleeping in a hammock in those woods and I will certainly go and see the glow worms (I don't eat them either, they turn your belly button into a torch). Last time I was there, the pheasants were really noisy and were roosting all around us. Heard quite a few owls as well.................Jon
