Pauline | Her large list is a mystery to me too! and I'm another one that likes classical, mostly choral works but my mother was a ballet dancer (Rambert) before she had me so I was brought up with it really. Used to sing in a choir in my twenties - then something happened to my voice and I couldn't sing in tune for toffee and still can't! I guess my favourite is folk music anything from Gjallahorn and klezmatics to Steve Tilston and Fernhill (early stuff) to Jethro Tull (I like folk rock) and I really love the atmosphere in folk clubs and pub sessions - so friendly and warm

Used to make and teach needle made lace.. but not anymore.. hands dont like it. Woodturning.. given that up as my back complained! So am left with my lovely little laptop.. wouldnt go back to a pc. Reading, pretty much anything but biogs. Hate em! Also used to do glass painting, drawing and watercolours.. oh yes.. and quilling.. before it became popular.
I make copper jewellery from recycled household cables.. strip the wire, wind the links, cut em and make up the bracelet or earrings. It is threaputic and uses up something that would be thrown out otherwise. Doing my bit for the environment hehe.
Best of all WABbing... lots of lovely people, things to learn.. and the piece de resistance.. met my lovely henry through it!

I do admire people who can make clothes but can one really make trousers, especially jeans? | When I was farm working, my Missus made all my jeans and Shirts etc.
Give her a sow's ear, and she will make a silk purse, a set of bagpipes and some soup |

Nunhead cemetery in London, I like a lot.
A compulsion to collect all sort of little things from nature: pebbles, seeds, feathers, etc etc and take them home to watch, and think about it. I think I had lived quite happy in Darwin time because it was more observation of nature than do statistics like today.
I visited once Charles Darwin home and I laught of seeing his office (mine and his quite similar just taking out the great book of course ).
What I love of UK it is english people have a long tradition of being naturalists and have compasion for animals. A thing that most of other countries did not have (maybe french have something of this as well) . |

Nunhead cemetery in London, I like a lot. | I know what you mean. I too have a fixation with churchyards and love reading the gravestones. I hope this doesn't sound too daft, but I like to think the people of old, who's names I read, live on just a tiny bit as I wonder about them.

| | | Re: Non wildlife interests? Well I see that is a "commun hobby" in UK Chris. .
One day in Nunhead I saw a gravestone (1800-1900) with the names of a father and later 5 hildren (ages months to 20 years) and finally the mother.
It made me to think how strong people was 100 years ago. They had to live with illness and death all the time and be ready to see their loved ones die and go on living. Things that today are quite rare. In spite all bad things, we live in a golden period |

| | | Re: Non wildlife interests? Me too for family history research. A long time obsession, and have found many 2nd and 3rd cousins, sooner or later I think we must all be related. The best thing about it is discovering all the social history around people that lived in the past. The worst thing about it is not keeping in touch with all the extra family, and then the guilt
Also I like yoga, I go to a nice class where we lie on the floor most of the time and it's lovely and warm, with not too much energetic stuff |

| | | Re: Non wildlife interests? I'm currently trying to get my dear old aunt to lend me her vast collection of old family photos, so I can copy them. However, she guards them like a mother hen and won't let them leave the house! I need to learn about the people on them before she pops her clogs as no-one else in the family is interested.
I think I am going to have to cart my not so portable scanner/printer to her house and copy them there, it's the only way! Saying that, she's very distrustful of modern gadgets and she'll probably think the photos will get vapourised in the process.
