| | | Re: 8 mega I have just been demoted from 2 to 1 meg, because my line cannot handle it and that was what all my internet problems have been. Thing is, I do not notice any difference............Jon |

| | | Re: 8 mega A friend of mine has recently upgraded..he wished he hadn't bothered. Yes, he get amazing download speeds, but he hardly ever downloads! His browsing speeds haven't changed at all!
Don't forget that internet speed is a two way thing. Take the problems this site was having, it was nothing to do with our computers but the server that had the errors. No speed increase on your line would have made any difference to that. So unless you're sure the site you want the speed from has plenty of capacity, it's not worth it! |

| | | Re: 8 mega I was upgraded recently from half a meg to one meg as a loyalty bonus (free) and to be honest I can't tell the difference. As Graham mentioned above, it's as much to do with the server the info is coming from as well as your broadband speed.

If you are into downloading films etc then 8Meg will be great. |

| | | Re: 8 mega yep I guess music, films etc is where it will come into its own. I just find looking at images on sites can be quite laborious at times due to the time taken. Will have to see if it makes any difference. But films to download seems quite an attractive proposition, and I havent paid for music for years now with my home workstation dedicated soley to Ipod, so I guess it will be beneficial |

| | | Re: 8 mega If your downloading, you'll definitely benefit..browsing, not so sure. I'm surprised you find looking at images on line slow..I don't have any problems; screens load pretty well instantly, with the sites I use anyway! (I'm also on 2MB.) |

| | | Re: 8 mega ADSL - asynchronous digital subscriber line - down and up are 2 different speeds. SDSL is available, but at ludicrously high cost for mere mortals!
Should be moving up to 6mb due to line length concerns - delays with my upgrade is because I have to deal through employee processes. |

| | | Re: 8 mega I'm on 10mb here - and to be honest general web use is no faster than it was at 2mb.
Downloading stuff though? - Wowza!

| | | Re: 8 mega I only have 2mb (I think) and I can usually get through deviantArt no problem .. most of my problems with dA are in the evening, then I find I can't get through very easily, it must be high traffic through there or something. Sometimes it makes going through my friends lists of submissions almost painful. |

| | | Re: 8 mega It can be slow yes, but when you have such an image heavy site, it's expected. I've lost my connection going there before now.
