| | | Re: Favourite Movie Like Rich, it really depends on what mood I'm in. There've been a lot of films I've enjoyed - probably too many to list - but three I never seem to get tired of are "Duck Soup" (the old Marx brothers classic), "Some Like It Hot" (with Tony Curtis & Marilyn Monroe) and the old silent classic "The General" with Buster Keaton.
I like a good cartoon as well - "Ratatouille", "Ice Age" and "The Incredibles" all spring to mind, along with some of the Disney classics.

Lawrence of Arabia,,, for the cinematography
Goodfellows and Godfather 2 for a good bit of entertainment
Field of dreams , Because I like the idea behind the film
Captains Courageous ( the original one) for good old fashioned sentimentality
The carry on films for a giggle

You've reminded me, in a similar vein I also like Clockwork (with John Cleese).

Of the new films it's got to be Gladiator! Oh and Whistle Down the Wind, the little lad in that makes me laugh! |

| | | Re: Favourite Movie L.O.T.R trilogy first (especially the Balrog scene). Glad to see 'The Good the Bad and the Ugly' mentioned as I love this too (especially the scene at Sad Hill Cemetery with the three of them in the circle). Also, the Star Wars films, The Thing, Jaws (three great actors), Leon, Gangs of New York (Bill the Butcher, what a character), Scrooge (with the wonderful Alastair Sim), Zulu, Casino (the baseball bat scene in the cornfield) and Gallipoli (the ending gets me every time).
There are probably lots more, but I just can't think of them yet.

And in later years and another time in my life but it just has to be LOTR - the acting, filming, scenry and music are stupendous and I seriously regret not going to see it at the movies......... I would go like a shot if they showed it on the big screen again............
A long time favourite is Ryan's Daughter - I suspect I fall under the spell of the acting the scenery and the music yet again (and I used to think the soldier wasn't bad looking either back in the days when I was young enough to do something about it!!!!! )
And another time in my life - The first Death Wish - Mmmm - Charles Bronson - yummy scrummy!
Earlier even than that would be A Man for All Seasons ...........
And finally I will always contrive to watch the bit of Die Hard where Alan Wakeman goes backwards out of the tower window.......... maybe they did drop him from a decent height on wires - but that look of horror on his face always makes me smile - hows that for perverse - but he's a nasty peice of work getting his just desserts!!! heh! heh! heh!

| | | Re: Favourite Movie I agree with you about LOTR (and i'm sure it's nothing to do with strider and sean bean ) and am looking forward to the Hobbit (though they don't start filming it until next year) - it's going to be a two part thing; so guess one year it will be The Hobbit and the next either the appendices at the back of LOTR or a semi made up link between the two books? Have you seen the extended version of LOTR?
I remember sitting curled up with my mum watching Poldark (i was very young at the time), then after she died i watched it again as a trip down memory lane and really fell in love with it!

I hope it's true as I'm all of a wuther now!
Yes, the extended versions are worth seeing alright.

Regards, Chris | Yes i believe so. Think there was abit of an issue to sort with Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema they fell out over pay or something. so unsure if he will be directing it or not.
