| | | WAB Tribute I guess with the year ending this is as good a time as ever to pay tribute to the forums and ALL its members. I've only really started paying much interest to wildlife this year, I've learnt so much and been encouraged to learn so much by WAB. I've still got alot to learn by this sites members high standards as i am still very much a rookie. Ive had a few tense debates i apologize to those who ive had differences with. WAB encouraged me to join local wildlife groups and make a differences were I am. This in turn has given me great enjoyment. Also through WAB i have gained a new love for photography, again im no where near the amazing standards of some members but ive made a start. The pictures on this site are stunning, some of the skills members have is inspirational to me. Another highly important part of my tribute is the collective knowledge on here, its amazing no book, web site, journal or professor would come close to it its staggering what you can learn here. I know none of you in person but through WAB i feel like i kind of know you all.
Cheers to the moderators for all the hard work and effort thats put into sustaining and keeping the forum running smoothly.

In the spirit of Christmas, and in recognition of what you put over so well I've donated to WAB via the link - it seemed the right thing to do |

| | | Re: WAB Tribute Well said Dogghound Dan. It is an amazing resource and it would be a struggle well impossible to have so many folk and this much combined knowledge in one place together other than for the internet.
Enjoy your time here in 2008 and good luck with all the things you plan to do and with the photography - and once again I'll wish that for all of us

Here's hoping for an equally productive 2008! |

You said it just right this is a great site and what a great bunch of people (not including a couple of trolls, which you put me right about, could have been a situation there, phew). With everyones knowledge and advice it is a real pleasure to be a member of this extended family. Fi. X X X X

| | | Re: WAB Tribute Thanks for that great post dogghound - as others have said, you have eloquently expressed what many of us feel about WAB.
Like you, I feel I am among friends when I pop in to WAB. And like you, WAB has expanded my horizons with regards to nature. I came here as a fairly novice bird watcher and as a total novice seeking help identifying wildflowers. Now I have taken my first real bird photos just this week, I would love to learn more about moths (mainly because the 'Guess Who' thread in The Treehouse has shown me what fascinating names some of them have!) and maybe next year, time permitting, I'd like to explore the wonders of fungi. |

| | | Re: WAB Tribute An excellent and well constructed post Dogghound. I fully endorse everything you have said.
WAB is unique with so many excellent contributors of all talents, all of which are willing to help and advise. It certainly was a wise decision of mine to join this site way back in August 2005.
I have met quite a few of the WAB members and all have been great company. Some I haven't met but would love to do so, as I feel we are on the same wavelengths as each other. Those chances may arise as more and more meets are arranged throughout the coming years.
The forum is only as good as its members and judging by Dogghound's opening post we have an excellent one in WAB. I can't argue with that.

| | | Re: WAB Tribute Well done Dan Doghound _ good point well made.
It is a true community and, for me, membership has been a real stressbuster after a particularly difficult year.
So here's to a happy Christmas and a great 2008.
Cheers
