| | | Tap water Is it just me or is tap water colder in the winter? I reckon to have a nice cold drink in the summer I need to run the tap for far longer than in the winter.
Am I wrong? |

Well, I'd have assumed it was the reason that Tufftie stated...I can't think of any other. I don't really know how the water systems work, but I'd presume that it's just down to seasonal temperatures. |

I'll dip my little pinky in the water , the water in the underground pipes stays approx. the same temp all year round if it's over three feet deep, it's only when it comes up into the house is it affected.
Max.

| | | Re: Tap water My tupennyworth of useless information reveals that instructions for the installation of shower/water heating appliances refer to seasonal variations:
"The temperature of the mains cold water supply varies during the year and can be as much as 20°C lower in winter than summer." (location unknown)
"Due to seasonal variations in the temperature of the incoming cold water supply, the flow of water required to deliver a certain temperature will vary." and, on second thoughts, not quite so useless after all if you're plumbing
P.S. And according to Dr Rosemary Leonard, speaking this morning on Breakfast TV, it really doesn't matter how much (tap)water you drink; your daily intake can be achieved from drinking coffee/tea and eating fruit and vegetables.

Anyone know? |

| | | Re: Tap water this article on today's BBC news site refers to the need to drink water (and water only) as one of many medical myths. BBC NEWS | Health | 'Medical myths' exposed as untrue
I have also read numerous claims that any non-alcoholic fluid will hydrate you just as well as water.
edit: in fact here's another article saying that: BBC NEWS | Health | Tea 'healthier' drink than water

I just guess it's another case of how much and how often.
I would personally be more worried about the sugar intake from sugary squashes and fruit juice added to water than caffeinated drinks.
On a final note, the same people have also suggested that decaffeinated drinks are even more bad for you health due to the chemicals needed to remove the caffeine

Does anyone actually agree that you have to run the tap for longer in the summer to get a cooler drink.
I reckon I can get a lovely cool drink after 2 seconds at this time of year but in the summer having to run the tap for at least a minute for it to be cool.
Nes pas?
Reason I ask is that we have just had a tap fitted with a filter attached to its pipe, so we dont need a Brita. But I argue that in the summer, short of running the tap for ages, it would be too warm

MODERATION.
If you drink 10 gallons of coffee a day - you'll suffer.
If you drink 10 gallons of water a day - ditto.
If you eat nothing but fruit all day - guess what?
And finally... yes... Morgan Spurlock, if you eat nothing but burgers all day, you'll suffer too. Moderation is the answer!
