| | | Roll on Spring Having just arrived home from shopping at Bluewater for Christmas presents, I've decided that after battling the crowds, noise, piped music, queues, packed carparks and miserable drivers, that I've had enough. Roll on spring.
Bring me sunshine (as Eric and Ernie said), spring flowers, birds, peace and quiet and invertebrates in abundance and let things be 'normal' again.
Anyone else desperate like me?

| | | Re: Roll on Spring I take each day as it comes! As for the shopping it's so easy via Internet. Could not be doing with all that mass shopping + I have been receiving some nice Christmas cards & well wishes from WAB buddies "Thankyou & Merry Christmas"! Working In the Farmshop with big Florist in the same building the Anemones and Daffs are now coming in a pre spring sample of gorgeous flowers to come, with thoughts of spring time Bees a buzzing and all the stirings of spring in my new meadows CANNOT WAIT. The Celadine leafs and Primroses leafs are guiding me forward-roll on the seasons, roll on!

Jenny | Totally, all the daylight hours are when I'm at work leaving so little time to get out in the woods/fields with the dogs and my camera. Still, as Feather says, only a couple of days until the days start getting longer!

| | | Re: Roll on Spring I'm not sure I agree with the spirit of this thread. You need a cold, dark winter to appreciate the spring when it does finally arrive.
One of the joys of living in Britain is the changes brought by the seasons. One of the results of climate change might mean that we end up without such extremes - how bland that would be.
Also, the winter cold we are now experiencing might make life a little tougher for those invasive aliens and introduced species that cause us anxiety.
Another benefit of a harsher winter is that more birds come to my feeders at the time when I get the best views as the leaves have gone.
So... count your blessings is my motto (and put on a couple of extra layers).

| | | Re: Roll on Spring I agree completely WW.
Recently it has been very cold and crisp so there has been lots of sunshine, bright blue skys and a heavy frost which makes things look so pretty. As long as I avoid the shops and go out for long country walks I am happy but ...
.. what I miss are the insects! I can't wait until they are back again.
Edit: Gotta agree with Wyevilla too though, watching the birds at the moment is great too.

I love the cold crisp days and the nights at this time of the year when you can see the stars for longer. And once you've got through the winter you enjoy spring all the more. |

So... count your blessings is my motto (and put on a couple of extra layers). | The problem is we don't get long cold hard winters. I've nothing against cold weather, quite the reverse. I loved it last week when we had a couple of sunny, cold frosty days. That's my kind of weather!
But dark, cloudy, dreary wet days...they're no use to me!
I'd love a month of really cold, snowy weather..but if we can't have that, bring on the bug season! |

| | | Re: Roll on Spring It's not so much the winter that I was frustrated about, it's the self-inflicting stress and pressure that make me wish for calmness and new life. This time of year has turned into a act of greed and indulgence. I'm not coming on all religious now, but you've only got to see folk just about breaking their bank accounts and backs to please someone. Sad really.
I really have become more comfortable seeing the things that nature provides. That includes my lovely family of course.
