Camo Christmas.............

Sunday (predictably the dullest, coldest of the week) saw us chasing off after Twite........ We had been told about a couple of feeding stations - one on the outskirts of Burnley, the other near Littleboro' so we headed for Cant Clough Reservoir just east of Burnley first and walked up to the appointed spot. Sure enough 33 birds were present but very flighty and of course it being sunday, lots of walkers and mountain bikers

We hung around in awful conditions for a couple of hours. I only got the one shot that is halfway decent but at least we've reccied the spot and can have a rethink about how to get nearer without upsetting the birds, the lady warden (most important this - us wardens and rangers have to stick together!) and avoiding too much interest from passers-by.......... drawing board and dome hide methinks.........

The better half has bought me a father christmas hat (for my xmas decs event at work tomorrow!) He thought it would be funny if I wore it along with my new camo jacket (the warden thought I was an idiot........ I'm saying nothing at this point) so there we were inthe middle of posing for my photo when 20 father christmas's and one elvis zoomed down the hillside on mountain bikes......... it put my one small hat into context I can tell you!

Anyway the afternoon had moved on and worsened and altho we went to recce the second twite spot on Blackstone Edge, it was 3.20pm and we hadn't time for the walk to the feeding area - so that will get tried again - thanks to ChrisJB for info on this one.

Hope the pics appear - I'm useless at this links business! If they don't appear - they are in the Forum gallery of the archive..........

Pauline

An "idiot" Pauline? - surely not, more like a twit looking for twite

Re: Camo Christmas.............

Hallo Pauline

I did actually type something about twit and twite, but was too decent (and frightened) to post it.

I did make the comment that you really suit the hat

I also like the camo.

Merry Christmas

Colin (who hopes to see the New Year!)

Re: Camo Christmas.............

Who'er yer frightened of Colin? Me in the camo (yer should be) or the unseen and even more scary mods?

No tufftie - you're not the only one - we thought it was really funny but it was even more hilarious that the warden (who had seen me in the car park wearing it) thought I was going to stalk the twite with it on ..........

By the way - the hat has a little battery in the rim and the Merry Xmas lights up and flashes with little red leds .........

Merry ChrisssssssstmaaaaaaaasSSSSS
