| | | Gallery Suggestion! Just a suggestion only!
Gallery editors set photography tasks / challenges?
Things that the editors consider to be missing from the gallery
So that gives us another excuse to leave the wife and kids at home because we have been set a task to do!
ie We need some pictures of .....................?
Examples:-
Coots fighting Clouded Yellow Butterflies mating
Any picture of a Pole cat
A frog doing a hand stand?????
Photograph another WAB member out and about! (extremely elusive).
I think it could be fun
What do other members think?
Fred

Fred | Good idea Fredi, but if your wife sees this, she might be out and you'll be the one indoors with the kiddies |

| | | Re: Gallery Suggestion! Good idea Fredi, the only problem as far as I am concerned is that I am out every half chance I get anyway. I am always on the lookout for anything unusual, but at the same time I don't go with the intention of taking photos to post on WAB. I am out because that's what I love doing being out in the fresh air and the countryside, any photos that I manage to get as keepers as I call them are a bonus.

Fred | I think the editors have enough to do without setting tasks for members. I am sure that any member can look through the galleries and see what is missing. LOTS! In any case with most missing items it is a matter of being there to see it, with camera at the ready

| | | Re: Gallery Suggestion! I think it is a top idea. It would give people an excuse to be more conciencious about their surroundings and an ideal excuse to get more involved in a subject of little previous interest to them. Provided the brief was clear enough and there was a little more care taken about identifying the species and its location etc aswell as perhaps finding the latin name etc I see no reason why this sort of activity should not be encouraged. It should be appreciated however that the gallery editors cannot be expected to do all of this extra work. It is simply not practical. The photography competition was suggested as a good idea, and it was in the entries, however there was scant votes, and as such it seems to have been shelved. I am all for new ideas but some of the responsibility has to be shared and greater care taken when submitiing entries for review
cheers

| | | Re: Gallery Suggestion! It did occur to me that what with the bluebell season coming up, there'd probably be lots and lots of pictures coming in of similarly beautiful scenes and we ought to encourage some sort of competition to see who could come up with the best picture or the most unusual. But as you point out it is just more work for those already working so hard!!
Unless maybe it was just normal uploads and some sort of banner encouraging people to join in or vote?
But then I know NNOOOOOthing about running websites |

| | | Re: Gallery Suggestion! As wildone says, the gallery editors are busy already. Perhaps one or two of the other contributors could look through and point out missing species or suggest targets. I haven't the time to look through the galleries but I know I have pictures that I should download (Adonis' Ladybird, for example) but I'm short of time even for that! But a specific request might spur me to action!
