Reminds me of when I was a young lad and one of my uncles used to take me to a 'flapping' (ie. unlicensed) track in the North West to watch his dog race. Only problem was that if the 'wrong' dog happened to be in the lead on the final bend a cat would mysteriously appear from over the fence  thus voiding the race
