my cat manages well on three legs and he's a rather heavier chap, I'm sure you won't regret the decision.
Best wishes |

| | | Re: hunny broke her leg. Hi Nature Lover, so sorry to hear that Hunny's leg wont heal. As you probably know I looked after a Ring Necked Parakeet recently who had lost part of a leg.. and he managed extremely well. I am sure Hunny will too. Is she not able to be with Sunny in some other cage.. I am sure they must miss each other.

| | | Re: hunny broke her leg. hi folks i bet you are all wondering how hunny is,well i got her home on the 7th january, her leg wont heal, from her elbow down seems to be dead but there is a good blood supply to her foot, the vet said as long as the blood gets to her foot it will be ok,she dose mannage in a smaller cage, but not in the big one,i am frightend she will fall so i am keeping her in the smaller one,she is happy in fact i dont see a change in her but i must addmit it dose cosern me as the leg looks dead, has no feeling so i think she must have dammaged her nerves, she still climbs the bars in the cage just drags that leg,the only thing they could have done for her was to take the leg off,but i will see how she goes if i think she is in pain i will get it removed, but looking at her you would never think she had any thing wrong with her. |

Hi i bet your all wondering what the outcome was for hunny, well i went to pick her up from the vets on the 7th of jan, only to be told the leg wont heal, but there is a good blood supply to her foot, other than that the leg is dead from the elbow to her foot, she has no pain so i should say her nerves were dammaged but she cant move it,only other thing was to remove it, but to take her home and see how she goes,to look at her you wouldnt think there was anything wrong with her,she eats like a horse and climbs the bars of her cage so i shall see how she goes,as long as the blood supply keeps going there will not be a problem,i take her out of her cage and give her a cuddle now and then, this she loves,do you think i am being cruel keeping her like this,i would hate to have her put down, but as i said befor its all a matter of quality of life at the end of the day |

| | | Re: hunny broke her leg. Hi there - I'm sure the vet would have found a way of letting you know if she needed to be put to sleep, so I really wouldn't worry. I know just what you're feeling though

| | | Re: hunny broke her leg. thankyou tufftie so glad you understand, life is very hard when you face something like this,i shall have to give her lots of love and kisses,so that she knows things are not much different to what they were, what cuts me up is when she sees sunny sitting on top of the big cage and she thinks she can do the same, which of course she cant in case she slips off,and she canot afford to do that. |

| | Re: hunny broke her leg.
Thought you would all like to hear how hunny is now,she is crippled but manages in the big cage with sunny, she must have broke one of her toes on her good foot as well,if you look at the picture you will see one toe over the other, but she is fine and happy and thats all that matters to me,i have them out of their cage quite a lot,she cant sit on top of her cage anymore, i dont let her in case she slips off and hurts herself,i drape a cloth over the back of the settee in the conservatory they are quit happy just sitting there chatting away, she is not a young bird so i supose i am lucky she got over it really, she must be about 8 or 9 years old,i was given her when she was 3 and i have had her about 6 years, she hasnt lost any of her loving ways with me still kisses me all over my face bless her, well i wont bother you all any more about my birds i think i have said enough on this subject. |

| | | Re: hunny broke her leg. I was glad to hear how things were going too - I'd thought about her but didn;t like to ask just in case all was not well and you were not able to talk about it - so I'm delighted to hear that she is back to enjoying her life, even if like me, she now has to hobble a bit!!!
