| | | Bird Quiz Website Since bird ID quizzes seem to be flavour of the month, I thought people might be interested in this website: CBirding
It has three levels of bird ID quiz - Beginner, with common birds and multiple choice; Advanced, still with multiple choice but more difficult species, and Expert, where you have to type in the name and photos can be of pretty much anything on the European list, including some really obscure species. You get a different selection of species from the database of 2700 photos each time you play, so it doesn't become repetitive.
Be warned, it's highly addictive!

Andy | Have just had a look and see what you mean. Good fun.

| | | Re: Bird Quiz Website In what way is this 'foreign wildlife'?!! Virtually all the birds featured in the quizzes are British. The moderating on this site is ridiculous sometimes. |

| | | Re: Bird Quiz Website Hi andy,
2700 Photos of 519 Species from Europe and the site looks like it's 'Bavarian Birds' with a dozen foreign languages. This is 'Wild About Britain'...the clue is in the title.
Without doing all the quizzes, we're not to know if they're mainly British birds or there are lots of foreign birds, so I've made a guess that it's the latter.
We haven't removed the thread, just put it somewhere other than the 'British Birds' forum, again the clue is in the title
If you'd like to elaborate on the 'moderating on this site is ridiculous' comments, please reply by PM and I'll deal with them directly. Posting comments like that on the public forum isn't exactly going to endear you to the moderators. I can understand that you're not happy that we've moved your post from the birds section to the treehouse, but these sections overlap all the time, so try not to get too upset about it.
Thanks

| | | Re: Bird Quiz Website I put the thread in the section where I thought it would be of most interest. I personally very rarely look at this 'treehouse' section, because most of the threads in it have very little to do with wildlife!
As for the quizzes, I have done them lots of times, and the vast majority of the birds that come up are on the British list (which is considerably more than 519 by the way).
Maybe 'ridiculous' was too strong a word, but the moving of threads to other, often less relevant sections of the forum is frequently inconsistent - e.g. there was an ID quiz recently where the subject was a Booted Eagle, a bird which has not occurred in a wild state in Britain. This thread was not moved, whereas mine, which is far more relevant to helping people improve their identification of 'British Birds', was.

| | | Re: Bird Quiz Website I think an awful lot of people locate new threads with the 'new post' button or by the column on the right- I wouldn't worry too much I'm sure most people will notice the original bird quiz thread wherever it is.
Plus I think its a little unfair to assume that moderators should experts in every aspect of Wildlife - They are crucial in allowing and maintaining a forum that allows all levels of ability to converse, learn and generally get on andthat is what personally I feel is important.
And really if you have a problem with a thread or location of a thread you really should report it rather than just complain. |

Your link isn't a British wildlife site, so we've put in the Treehouse, rather than delete the thread...would you rather we did the latter? Quote:

Looks like we missed the Booted Eagle, so I'll now look for it and move it as we don't want posts about foreign birds in the British Birds section
