| | | Book recommendations Anyone got any recommendations, please?
I'm after a novel-type book, but entirely "factual" about nature, trees, birds, flowers, all or one of the above - something entertaining, but also fascinating.
Any ideas?

Chris | Try the mike tomkies series about his adventures in the scotish highlands - "last wild place" is a good one to start with but there are about 10-15 others.

Chris | Any of Gerald Durrell's books (very funny) and David Attenborough Zoo Quest books - also entertaining. Can't think who wrote it but Ring of Bright Water and Jane Goodall's chimpanzee book (forgotten what it's called and can't get the embarrassed smilie to work!).

| | | Re: Book recommendations I'm currently reading 'crow country' by Mark Cocker and it is utterly fantastic so beautifully written and all about one of our most overlooked bird the rook and its behaviour - but also snippets about our own behaviour.
I can highly recommend it |

Chris | Colin Tudges book titled The Secret Lives Of Trees (How They Live & Why They Matter) very fascinating indeed. It will make you look at the life of trees that you thought you knew!

yes I remember those! I loved them initially as a kid but then they made me feel a bit sad as I got older because they were mostly about collecting animals for zoos and grew to think animals are better left in the wild....

And they were always good yarns |
