Taking Refuge . . .

Well I'm here tonight taking refuge from the telly - or to be correct from the football that is on the telly at the minute - and which the better half is lapping up I'm surprised to see so many on here who might be doing the same?

The actual football game is one thing - the dissection (read waffle - piffle - absolute - oh no - can't say words like that on here - will get banned) of the presenters drives me to insanity...... particularly Alan Hanson - I can't stand this man - he causes me as much pain as Bill Oddie does for some folk - he's got the most boring voice ....... arghhhhhh!

Ah well - feel better now I've got that off my chest

Me too. I'd rather watch paint dry than watch football.

Oh dear - I see England lost the game. That means no wall to wall footy next year. That is a shame.

YEA! (actually I don't think he's that bad looking....) its that boring voice and the way he takes himself so seriously that winds me up (and really I have no room to call with my strong Lancashire accent - when I used to visit London many years ago they said I sounded like Bobby Ball......)

Re: Taking Refuge . . .

I love football but fully understand regarding Hansen who is the most self opinionated man on the box and combined with the monotone voice makes him sooo boring, and I'm a fellow Scot.

I do like Ian Wright who seems to wear his heart on his sleeve and tells it as he sees it.

My problem with watching England play is the media and commentators, who expect England to win every competition they enter and then build everyones hopes up, only to fail time and time again.

Re: Taking Refuge . . .

I have certain strong opinions on certain matters...and football is not one of them surprisingly. I used to play alot and I still watch it when I can (COME ON YOU SPURS ) but I don't have dislikes against anyone that's obsessed with it or people that downright hate it. I agree with Pauline about that drone of a voice of Alan Hansen's...yes, it's enough to drive anyone over the cliff I didn't get to see any of the footie this time over...No telly at Uni! Doing me good I think

Nick
