| | | blue tit demise This morning while at breakfast two bluetits came hurtling towards the patio door, one swooped away the other hit the glass with a terrific thump.I started to get up but stopped as a great tit approached flying from plant to plant and finally landed beside the little body of the blue tit it was joined almost immediately by another bluetit, which began to peck and push at the little body on the mat until it had pushed it clear of the mat!
Both birds having departed I examined the fallen tit its neck was broken but the attempt to get it moving again is something I had not witnessed for a long time

| | | Re: blue tit demise Sorry to hear about the blue tit death. We have had several bird strikes on our patio doors, all of them being collared doves. I think this time of year, when the birds are all busy mating and chasing, being careful where they are going sort of goes out the window (so to speak). Sometimes they have hit it so hard they have left a powdery impression of themselves on the glass!
It's a good excuse not to clean the windows though because you can say the birds won't be able to see them otherwise.
Really I ought to buy some of those stick on things so they can bee seen. WW |
