| | | Lest We Forget This gets me everytime.......
Lest We Forget A Pittance of Time On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the store’s PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. This song is based on what happened in the drug store that day.

I've never heard that song before but it certainly makes you think.
I can't remember the amount of times I've been out and about when the 2 minutes silence is being held and people just bustle passed , talking and laughing and I always wonder why it doesn't occur to them why everyone else is standing quiet and still.
Anyway, thanks for sharing it with us it's very moving and so poignant especially at this time .

| | | Re: Lest We Forget Wow, I have just listened and watched the video and had goose bumps on my arms and cold shivers all over. How very very moving. Made even more moving when my black lab Piper sat down beside me and placed her head on my lap. Shivers again.
Thank you Tormentil for posting.
I will not even start to type about my disgust at people who ignore the 2 minutes silence on the 11 November and again on Remembrance Sunday.

BWD, Royal Air Force, and proud of it. | I have no issue with anyone who ignores the 2 min silence, thats freedom of choice.
It is a stirring bit of music though init. I too get goose bumps, especially at the bit where the vets come on.

| | | Re: Lest We Forget I dont have an issue either with folk who ignore it, as you say its a free country and some choose to remember in their own way.

| But surely that's the whole point. Freedom of choice exists in this country because of the people who made the ultimate sacrifice. Two minutes out of a year is not too much to ask, is it?

| | | Re: Lest We Forget As an ex service man and from a generation who was brought up with Nov11 and everything it stands for I agree in some way as to how it can annoy some people as to the sentiment of some people who do not observe the 2 mins silence ,but we live in a free and democratic society which is what the service personnel gave their lives for and people are allowed to do as they please, but a little respect and 2 mins of anyones time does not cost anything compared to what has happened and is still going on today | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
