White Rabbits

[The Black Rabbit]

Juilejam (I think) started a post this morning re: pinch and a punch etc... (it being 1st of the month).
In common with a lot of posts between 00:00hrs and 09:45hrs (approx) it was lost due to database difficulties, a shame.

Might I take the opportunity to ask those of you who said "White Rabbits" to yourselves / your family this morning, to please remember to say "Black Rabbits" to yourselves / your family this evening, before you retire to bed.
That was the original superstition - and people who forgot were bestowed with terrible luck. You had to say "Black Rabbits" as well!
I just thought that it might be apt if I mentioned it...

I think there are many variations on the theme, but remembering the "black Rabbits" (the hosts of human souls) at the end of the first day was the one that was always told to me.

Never heard of either until I moved to Yorkshire and my partner is most insistant that White Rabbits is remembered. I've told him about Black Rabbits aswell now just to give him something else to concentrate on

Ahhh Run Rabbit's post explains a lot .. I am from Yorkshire, maybe thats why the White Rabbits thing is so ingrained

(and yes, Dan, I agree that it does sound freaky and superstitious hehe)

My family always says "Rabbits" on the first day of each month - not White Rabbits or Black Rabbits, just Rabbits!
