Our grand daughter is two and half (and lovely with it and I am not biased). Her mother is already teaching her how to look out for traffic before crossing the road. When we are out together, we have to wait to cross the road whilst our grand daughter checks that it is safe. This is a very practical lesson; but, despite my great age, I am still able to cross the road on my own.
