| | | Re: Pet hates, peeves, and bugbears! I don't suppose anyone really wants to stop other people speaking (or writing) however they want. However the whole point of speaking/writing is to communicate something to another person. Therefore, if you're not making yourself understood, there's no point in saying anything? Surely? Quote:

In the supermarket children were annoying me (getting in the way) and people leaving their trollys in the middle of the isles! Its amazing how some people have no awareness of other people! The amounts of times people walk into me on my way to/from uni!! I wonder if im invisible sometimes Demicav are you on the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel forum? |

I know there are decent kids out there somewhere - I feel sorry for them - but are these careless chavs the generation we are trying to protect the environment for - do they know? do they even care??? | I have to say, although I have been crying reading the posts about the chavs, still giggling now, my eldest daughter(15) is watching a programme about climate change in dis-belief and my youngest (13) has just recycled all her paper and cardboard. I think although decent kids are becoming a minority and the undisiplined horrid kids are growing we still have a duty to help our planet for those who do care. today my eldest who has been struggling deciding what to do for a career when she leaves school has in fact decided to become a meteorologist so she can as an adult educate and keep an eye on what's happening. Yeah I love being a mum, sometimes. It's a shame the others spoil it for those who want to actually do something with thier lives.Fi. X X X X

Oh and PS the one (of many, many!) that pushes my buttons is Alan Hanson - he has the most boring voice and drones on and on - if he walked in front of my car I'd have a terrible job on to miss him. . .

| | | Re: Pet hates, peeves, and bugbears! Oh and some more I've just thought of:
people who tailgate me when I'm doing a steady 45 mph in the middle lane of the motorway - what on earth is the rush eh??
people who use those disabled spaces in supermarket car parks: most of them dash out of heir cars like olympic sprinters leaving us genuinely needy to park at the top of the car park - first come first served I say.
wardens of nature reserves: you'd think they owned the place. Stopping children picking flowers, spouting Latin and frightening everybody with climate change horror stories. They should be locked up.
immigrants: birds who come to our country without a permit and just scrounge off the state. Every year there's loads at Martin Mere - why don't they close it down and make them fly to Belgium or somewhere?
Crabby old adults who have a go at our Darren just because he wears his Man United top and sings football songs in the library. Were they never young themselves? |

| | | Re: Pet hates, peeves, and bugbears! I've nothing against Man U (really ) but singing in a library where people are trying to read would go along with other noisy peeves - youngsters sharing their latest download with everyone on the 'bus, businessmen sharing all their instructions with everyone on the train, neighbours sharing their music with everyone in the street.
Why can't people keep their music/conversations to themselves? The one good thing about mobile 'phones that I can see is that you can turn off the noises and send silent e-mails .... Quote:

Plus adults who walk along the pavements putting the children to walk on the outside next to the busy roads..seen this even with young toddles..they are just not thinking of their childrens safety..

alternatively if they kept the window up how would you know how much money they'd spend on their system and give them respec for being so manly
or version 3 - they cant put the window up , cos they smashed it when the TWOCked the motor

| | | Re: Pet hates, peeves, and bugbears! I have lots, probably too many, I will try to keep it brief, but I may have to add to this thread later as I'm sure I have forgotten some.
I think what annoys me most is people not indicating. Bad enough for other drivers but when you are a pedestrian it can be very dangerous too. Why do most drivers think that they only need to indicate when there are other cars on the road? Are pedestrians invisible to them? Why is it then the pedestrian's fault when they nearly run you over?
Other things on my list are:
People throwing their rubbish everywhere, why can't they just take it home with them or wait until they find a bin. I doesn't involve too much effort does it?
How rude some people are. It doesn't cost anything to be polite, maybe only a few seconds of your time and it makes such a big difference.
Oh and people pretending to be posh
I agree with Doug about tomatoes in sandwiches, they go all mushy and the bread gets soggy...........yuk.
Smartie, I am with you about reality TV.............the ultimate worst for me so far is Big Brother.............who in their right mind wants to watch other people sleeping
I think that will do for now |

Big problem this - and can be explained by the vast proportion of drivers (not me of course!) thinking they either are superior to people not in cars, or have the priority over them.

There is a notorious roundabout around here where there is a left turn into a road just a few yards after coming off a roundabout. Drivers regularly don't turn their indicators off after leaving the roundabout so it appears to show they're going to turn left but they carry straight on. Many a near miss here, although the locals have learnt not to believe the indicator and wait just in case.

| | | Re: Pet hates, peeves, and bugbears! Cyclists peeve me off too! The ones who make there route as they go......you know the ones.....one minute on the road then leap on to the pavement and across the pelican crossing, weave in and out of pedestrians then roll there bike down some steps or something to that manner because they can't wait at the lights like every one else
Cyclists that don't use lights or don't do anything to be seen in the dark
Young cyclists who use the footpath instead of using the roads. I feel strongly about this because the big the number of cyclists on the roads makes drivers drive with more caution.
