Re: White Stag Killed

There is a mysticism about White Harts (Earth heart where are you)
People want to posess the "magic" then find they have just venison, it is so sad that the White stag should die after all these years at the hand of an idiot

Re: White Stag Killed

Hi,

I did hear many years ago that any white deer would be culled by Rangers as the white made the herd too easy to spot by poachers, true/false, I could'nt say.

Max.

They'd do well in the snow though. I suppose it's possible it would have been viewed as a weakness.

Re: White Stag Killed

I was told rangers usually cull the stags with disformed/ dangerous antlers first, im not sure about their colour & culling.

EDIT- although i did see a tv show filmed in Scotland where they culled the first deer they found so i supose it depends on the management plans for the area

Re: White Stag Killed

I know that there is a fine if you shoot a white pheasant whilst on a shoot as they are especially bread to give the keepers a clue at a distance as to the whereabouts of the majority of the birds. Oh and a cash prize if you shoot charlie (a Fox). Maybe the white Fallow strain were bred by the Normans for same reasons.

Re: White Stag Killed

Not a good thing to be at the moment, a white deer, seems to be open season on white stags and bucks (this one was a fallow) its a shame these creatures are magical to see in their own habitat.

Re: White Stag Killed

Today 15.00, I was driving along the A281 between Horsham and Handcross, reference point Horsham, UK - Google Maps

near magpie lane junction, and on the verg was a fully grown pure white deer, female I think. It had just been run over. It's still there.

Not a good idea to give out where you saw it.Some moron might hunt it down
If you read through these posts you would have noticed MH68 quote this
"Good on you for not giving away the location of that beautiful animal, and well done for getting the photo published "

Oops sorry missed the last bit where you said it had been run down.Although I still believe where it was should not be given away in case there are others in the area

Re: White Stag Killed

True,

But I was rather hoping that the moron who shot the stag would find this one and try and remove it's head. And whilst doing so get get run down, as it is on the side of a busy main road!
