Hi Galanthus!

Got a couple of ideas for your 'boozy' starter and seeing as you like smoked salmon they may be fitting... how about...

1. Wine steamed mussels with a kick of chilli... or
2. Clams in sherry sauce

Ummmm, will you be placing your After Eights between the bread slices, on top of them or as a side plate ? Nothing can possibly shock me after some of the posts in this thread

It warms my heart to hear about all the healthy, nutritious snacks we're shoveling down our throats Gillian McKeith would be so proud of each and everyone of us

nightshade and others - please be aware that most of the white bread you get in shops is not for human consumption. I have yet to discover what it is for, but research is ongoing!

That is what makes most of the snacks mentioned so illicit.

Oh, right! Sorry, wildone (and others). I hadn't realised that illicit meant inedible!

Each to his own!

Re: fave illicit snacks

inedible? hmmm... nothing that comes to mind, although i do have a tendancy to drink water from the hot tap (warm but not hot to the hand) with a teaspoon of salt and sugar in?

very very refreshing... also its the majority components of an energy drink.

i also once had squirrel burgers.... actually very nice.. grey squirrel of course

edit... ok fine, i also dip jam sandwiches into my cuppa... tea, jam and ... um... sandwich lol!

Re: fave illicit snacks

Ive been away for a few days and have just caught up with this thread

Some very good ideas for scary snacks!!

My supper every night (unless I've had too much beer! ) is -

Extra thick sliced white (cotton wool!) bread toasted - then put in the freezer for 15mins, taken out and buttered very thickly and then put back in the freezer for a good half hour!! It has to be freezing cold before I'll eat it!

My boyfriend usually makes it for me and brings it up to me with a mug of milk and honey - Im tucked up in bed by this time in my XL stripey pj's with my cuddly toys (and yes - one is a spider!!)

Peanut butter on toast HAS to be on shop bought (Hovis) white sliced bread, as does a bacon sarnie.

Re: fave illicit snacks

Just to add that a bacon roll can be in either a crusty roll or a bap and even a baguette.

Re: fave illicit snacks

The best bread for bacon sarnies is that stuff with the invisible crust - mind you I only get it when its reduced - it costs a fortune! Its easier to cut your own crust off!

Its also nice for dippy egg!

Re: fave illicit snacks

Not quite a snack but...
a dinner of cheese and onion quiche, cauliflower cheese and special fried rice. Far too many carbs and shouldn't really work but it does and is a favourite of the old man and me!!!
