I'll be cutting the grass later. I hope it's for the last time this year , too.
Then I've got a wee bit of varnishing to do. Oh, and I might take HiD to work.

Sitting here looking at the sunshine and feeling miserable Cant get out and about I have a chest infection.I think it was triggered by inhaling awful fumes from a soft toy that somehow found its way into the slats in my gas fire.Well not somehow the littlest grandsons fault. Also my fault for not checking when I turned on the fire for the first time this Autumn.I turned it on and was sat at the pooter when I heard a sound of crackling.Turned round and there was smoke pouring out of the vents Quickly turned fire out and used a little water spray on the offending piece of cloth. Then went round the house opening all the windows.Being asthmatic it wasnt a very good start to the day.Have been feeling pretty rough and doc said I had a chest infection.Lets hope when I feel better I can get out and about again and the sun is shining |

| | | Re: What are you doing today. Today I'm waiting for a parcel to be delivered. The one they brought yesterday, but left a card saying "We tried to deliver this at 1:30pm today. Will re-deliver tommorrow".
At the time stated I was in the back garden cutting back my grape vine. One would have thought that who ever the delivery person was, that they might have tried round the back of the house (as they would have done in days of yore). I mean, its not as though our abode is on the grand scale, like Woburn or Chatsworth, where it would, I presume, take several minutes, if not longer, to "nip round the back". No, its just a common or garden semi; even at a modest stroll, it would take all of 60 seconds to traverse the distance from the front door to the back door. One can only presume that the next delivery was of such an urgent nature that, another minute of the delivery persons time, may have resulted in a world shattering tradgedy. Heaven forfend, that I should bewail wasting most of such a pleasant day, staring expectantly at the front gate, if this was the case.

Don't you know Postmen sometimes just deliver the "sorry you weren't in card", and don't even attempt to deliver the parcel, Tormentil.
Ten to one ON that your postman never brought your parcel round. He just had that card.
Any postmen beg to differ? I wouldn't bother!

Doug | It was n't Royal Mail TBR, it was a private delivery company. Royal Mail usually ask you to collect from the sorting office, but this company's depot is in Hull; I'm in Scunthorpe !!! If I have to collect it, it would be about 15 miles via Humber Bridge (£2.50 each way), or about 60 miles via Goole. !!!
