Battling crime in Derbyshire

This made me chuckle:

"A cardboard cutout of a policeman intended to discourage shoplifters
has been stolen from a Co-op store in Derbyshire. But it had been
doing its job up to that point - before leaving the shop with the
cut-out, its thief paid for his shopping.

"Derbyshire police said recent figures had shown a decrease in the
number of thefts from stores using the cardboard coppers. "The theft
is disappointing, because it's been a really positive initiative that
has been rolled out across the force area," a spokesman said."

I'm sure it won't be long before we get an image of one of our own uniformed members uploaded here!
I'd like to see somebody try and "nick" him!

Re: Battling crime in Derbyshire

Reminds me of a time when I gave an elderly friend a lift to a shopping centre in Leicester to get electricity cards from the supermarket, the supermarket was closed by the time we arrived, but my friend said it was o.k. there was a machine in the police station. I duly took the friend to the police station and there was a machine inside as she had said. Before she could put the money in a police sergeant behind the desk stopped her, saying that the machine had been vandalised and electricity cards were available from the desk. This machine was less than ten feet from where the policeman stood !!!

There is a cardboard cut out of a policeman in the entrance of Trago (horrible place, no offence if any one works there but get some air conditioning) any hoo on the cut out it says 'would you like a free ride in a police car' actually yes I would why should all the shoplifters get all the fun!!!!Fi.
