I must be prepared one of these times to get a better photo!

| | | Re: I love this time of year ... This is the start of my favourite time of year, also. Although the number of daylight hours diminish, the useable light for photography extends to all day: and I don't have to get up at 3:00am to be out for dawn light! Bring it on!

| | | Re: I love this time of year ... This time of year Gulls start to make their presence felt. Every evening before dusk I get hundreds and as the Autumn progresses thousands of mainly Lesser Black Backs with a few Black-headed Gulls flying to roost over the garden. All heading north from the fields where they have been feeding during the day to various roosing sites at local gravel pits or even the reservoir to the west of Oxford. Occasionally lucky to get a Great Black Back or Herring Gull with them.

| | | Re: I love this time of year ... I'm afraid autumn does very little for me as it just seems that my favourite season, spring, is a lifetime away. I like winter though, especially if we get frost and snow.
Roll on December 21st.

| | | Re: I love this time of year ... These last few nights I've been at awe at the hundreds of jackdaws that have been flying over our house to roost at the quarry - an amazing sight and they sure are noisy!!!! however, I do (like naturelover) love springtime best.. the leaves sprouting, the birds checking out nesting sites, animals and insects coming out of hibernation etc. certainly makes me feel alive!

| | | Re: I love this time of year ... Autumn is my number one favourite season. I get up at 06.30 every morning make my coffee and sit on the back doorstep (coat on of course). The air is fresh, there is a robin that without fail seranades me every morning and if it is a clear morning I get to see the sun rise. A bit of a ritual but I wouldnt miss it for the world. Fi. | | | Re: I love this time of year ... Though spring for me is a country mile ahead of autumn, I did a nice walk over Saddleworth Moor today and the weather was deliciously pleasant. The moor grasses had become the colour of blood red in places and Red Grouse sprung up from my feet as I ploughed through the Heather beds.
Roll on the first snows.

| | | Re: I love this time of year ... Snows? Snows? What are they?
When my children were young we used to have to take them to school on a sledge: I doubt whether we have had more than 5-10 mm on the ground at any time for the last 5 or more years!
I shall have to fit wheels to the sledge for any grandchildren that may come our way!
