Then witnessed a Pike capturing a huge fish:
A Heron decided to drop in for luch at the same spot!

All this was within a few minutes of each other, all on the same stretch of river.
This was quickly followed by an excellent luch before visiting one of my favourite bird feeding sites:

I didn''t realise there were Pike in this small strech of water, it's very shallow water, no more than a couple of feet deep at the most. I think they could have been washed out of the lake over during the recent floods, when this area was under water. |

| | | Re: a smug sunday Derek and I had a fruitful day in the garden, harvesting beetroot, shallots, garlic, borlotti beans, tomatoes (currently having to eat those for every meal  ) and cavolo nero. Followed by beetroot/shallot pickling and making of ribolitta soup. Are we smug or what??  |
