Concussive Fireworks

It is the 22nd of September, there is a "firework display" in progress somewhere near me
They could be 2 miles away but "I have to share in their celebrations" WHY??
If this was a neighbour I could remonstrate with them,if it was loud music I could call the
police,or a council department to aleviate the nuisence but concussive fireworks?..
these self centred people can effect hundreds of people and their pets with their thoughtless
racket.

So it's annoyed you then
As much as I like fireworks, I can see why you're angry. Fireworks are fine - on the 5th of November.

Re: Concussive Fireworks

I have to run out with my dog shouting quick wee wee. I shouldn't have to wait all night for the fireworks to subside before I can let my dog out for a pee.

We used to have to put up them for one night only, now its whenever there is a birthday or whatever .. where do they get them from. The law seems to be relaxed on the selling and buying of fireworks. Ban the lot, I say. There rant over...

Re: Concussive Fireworks

We have just had a 30 min firework display in a field near us, the loud bangs sacred the life out of me lt alone the Hedgehogs. As we are cat sitting for the Kitten next door we had to go and sit with him to make sure he was ok, we found him cowering under a cabinet. After talking him around he seems, ok. There is however, no sign of the Hedgehogs i hope they are Ok.

Re: Concussive Fireworks

I have two dogs, Max, the younger one, who barks furiously and chases his tail at the sound of a firework. Toby who doesn't bat an eyelid. Toby was born on 5th November so I wonder if it's anything to do with waking up to the sound of them

Re: Concussive Fireworks

I suppose we'll have the usual unlicenced idiots selling them in makeshift container lorries.
Wish the whole firework thing would just fade away now. Just makes me, elderly folk and the wildlife nervous and the hospitals and fire-service over-worked.

Re: Concussive Fireworks

I don't really like them but I blame that on the years of constant noise from them being set off several weeks before and several weeks after. Too many nut cases about for me.

Re: Concussive Fireworks

Oh don't get me started about those things....

Ok, well I've started so I'll finish . I am sure the fireworks are getting louder - does anyone else remember when 90% of them were all pretty lights and hardly any sound?

I have nothing against organised displays but it's getting to the point where it seems like they start on October 31st and never cease! I would definately support legislation to have the sale of fireworks restricted to license holders and only discharged at registered events.

Re: Concussive Fireworks

Yep,

They'll be going off continually from now till after the new year, luckily our animal doesn't bat an eyelid, we all jump at the first one then ignore them.

Having said that, I wish they'd write and ask my permission to hold a display, the first firework off is usually the loudest bang, and working nights looking after approx. 15,000 gallons of oil, it certainly cures my constipation .

They've limited the times as to when they can be set off, can't they limit the dates, or would we have a revolution over the nanny state.

Max.

Re: Concussive Fireworks

I have to say I love fireworks but they are getting louder and I don't see the point. You can't beat a basic box of garden fireworks! Having said that I don't even know if you can buy a 'basic' box of 'garden' fireworks anymore.

Loud music and screeching cars are the things I hate, much more so than fireworks.

Kris

Re: Concussive Fireworks

Living in a village the only "big" displays that we have to concern ourselves with are those on or around 5th November, New Year's Eve and one or two events held by a couple of local pyro[technic]maniacs who seem to have more money than sense and like to celebrate with a bang. On those occasions we have to make sure that we are in the house to sedate our dog and cat with biscuits and loving kindness.

The real disruption we have is from one or two yobs that roam around sporadically letting off fireworks any time during the hours of darkness - and I mean anytime. I think last year one banger went off at 1 a.m. and it then took us an hour to settle the animals back down again. That silly season starts about now and tends to fizzle out around the 10th November ... where do they get they money from??? At least with displays you get it all over and done with in one go ... try letting off a banger every 47 minutes and then see what the neighbours think!

Re: Concussive Fireworks

So far nothing with the fireworks so far...but i know it wont be long .
The local pub just down the road has a few close to 5 nov. A neighbour has a small party every yr lasting about 45mins.

But its the ones that seem to save theirs up and keep letting them
off way past bonfire night so in all i get to hear them going off for around a month....right up till christmas and again at new years eve.
My animals hate them dont want to go out at all . I find them hiding behide the back sofa . so to try and make them feel a bit safer i cover
them over with a blanket which they do seem to find a bit of comfort from it.Im sure when i was a child this didnt go on ..you had your display at home my dad with his bucket of water just incase things got out of hand and a bucket of sand to put your sparklers in when they had finished. or you went to a public display and that was it over and done with ..
