Men fined over illegal dog fight

Warning. This makes pretty distressing reading.

Ten men have been convicted and fined over an organised illegal dog fight in which two pit bull terriers died. The men have been named. Most are from the West Midlands.

Reading this is very upsetting , and couldnt even think of watching the video of the dog fight..It just make me feel physically sick..these poor animals are surposed to be man's best friend...What has happened
in our society that has given rise to people like this who go ahead with the training of these dogs knowing for what purpose it will be used for , and enjoy this barbaric spectacle..The fine was not enough ..

I heard about this in the news. It's disgusting. The punishment does not fit the crime.

seen it on the lunch time news ,the video was that horrific that they could only show stills. these people are the scum . nice of the bbc to name them . hope they get what they're due.

That's sickening that people can find enjoyment in something so barbaric as that. What I hated most from watching the video, other than the still footage, is their attitude to the cameras outside the court - makes me very angry indeed

Sorry, I chose not watch it - my vivid imagination is enough to tell me that it's horrific and the people responsible are utter *bleeping* scum-bags and tbh (in my opinion) shouldn't even be breathing themselves now!

I did not watch the video, they are always as bad as the last one you may have watched.
Like Fox hunting, its a so called sport for us to enjoy but disastrous for the animals involved.
What makes dog and cock fights worse is that we gamble so much money down the drain.

Every now and then you hear off a dog biting the owner, or worse a little kid.
But then it's always the dog that gets put in trouble and nearly always put down.

Theres a young lad called lewis i work with and the other night he was telling me that someone he knew had a bulldog, which bit his wife so he shot it in the garden

He was laughing when telling me! so he got a good telling off i can tell you (anymore off that and he shall be job hunting

)

the law is much too soft on thugs like these,they should get a prison centence and banned from ever keeping a dog in their lives,or any other pet come to that again, its all to do with money and betting those poor dogs were put down for mans greed,dose that seem fair,i bet they never knew what family life was sitting in front of a fire in the winter months,more than likely kept in a shed,wicked ( wish i could swear ) so and soes.

This is a shocking story Dogs being forced to fight Dogs ,no way out.
Worse, is what happens if these Dogs get out onto the streets
Probably these "men" have children in their families if not their own

I notice the ads by google at the top of this subject are offering American and Pit Bull terriers for sale . . . get the lowest prices etc. Is there anything can be done about what I would say was innapproriate advertising - given how most of seem to feel about dog fighting, Badger baiting etc . . .

We have some control, by being able to add URLs from advertisers to a blocked list, but it takes several hours for them to be deleted and they're usually replaced by similar adverts for a different URL. We have a limit of about 200 URLs that we cna list and it's already very long with pest control ads etc. The ads basically look at the content of a page and serve adverts that are most relevant.

That said, I might be wrong, but I thought the pit bulls were illegal to be sold in the UK. In which case, if you contact Google Ads via the 'Ads by Google' linking in the advert and let them know that they're advertising these dogs then they might drop the ads straight away.

Ta Stuart - I'll give that a go and see if it can be stopped - its only a small action in what will be a huge and no doubt profitable area for those folk involved with breeding and selling pit bulls, but if it reinforces how folk here feel then its worth doing.

Have found the link this evening and questioned the legality of these ads in Britain on a British website. Lets see if they disappear from the top of this thread? Perhaps other members would like to report this matter to Google too - the more the merrier? Ok I realise the web is world-wide and anything it seems can be advertised on google or ebay or wherever - but I still feel pit bull puppies for sale on the top of this thread is inappropriate and disturbing tho I can see how the mechanics work of like for like subjects being matched up and advertised together. . .
