Red face Useless facts

I'm one of those sad people who have a mind full of useless facts. They can really kill a conversation or start one up. So heres a few of mine.

Did you know that a ducks quack doesn't echo and nobody knows why.
Did you know that a cow can go upstairs but not down.
Did you know that the planet Venus spins in the opposite direction to the rest of the planets.

I'm trying to do wildlife facts so that I don't get chucked off the board.
A 2 glasses of red, Sunday PM ww Cheers

I am sorry but we had the ducks quack fabel some time ago and I was pulled up on it. Strange but I cannot find the thread now, but believe it or not it got quite heated, I seem to remember

Re: Useless facts

Why would you want to take a cow upstairs? Next time I see a cow, I'll be sure to ask!

Re: Useless facts

Well I think it must be true about the cows. On C beebies, when Blue cow gets into the double decker bus, she never goes to the upper deck, because if she did, she would not be able to get down again.................Jon (really hoping someone out there has young kids too)

Don't worry Jon

I don't have kids but I like Spongebob. Don't use your kids as an excuse. Come out and admit it. You love CBeebies

Re: Useless facts

They tested the ducks quack myth on Mythbusters (Discovery Channel), quacks do echo.

I've seen cows cross large drainage ditches and go up and down steep loading ramps to trailers, but I suppose it depends on how steep the stairs are.

Re: Useless facts

Cows can't go downstairs as their legs don't work that way. If they tried they would collapse and end up chinning themselves. They could be lowered downstairs backwards. Best not to take them upstairs anyway.

Sorry guys, As a dairy farmer I can assure you that cows can go down stairs, they prefer not to as they are not over-keen on walking down anything steep.
I have seen cows walk down stairs/steps and as long as they are allowed to do it at their own pace they seem to manage it fine! - sorry to be a party pooper
