Oooh hafta say Partridge is lush *smacks lips* and so quick and easy to do too! James (my 11yr old son) and I had one each roasted with dry cured bacon wrapped over it, carrots, boiled new pots and kale, oh and gravy made from the juices and it was well scrummy! James had a mate stay for dinner and the pair of them devoured every morsel, so that says it all lol!
So what did everyone else have today then?

The father-on-law invited 15 of us over, but having sampled his cooking before ( ) it was decided that we'd eat out. A vote was taken and an Indian won ( all the kids voted for it)
Personally I'd have gone for a nice olde worlde pub with proper roasts

Still, I'll be alright when I get there (I hope )

Roast belly of pork today, infact it's already in the oven as I like to slow roast it so it's meltingly tender and then I give it a blast of heat for the last 20 mins or so to just finish off the crackling....Mmmmmm!
What's everyone else having on this lovely WET day then?

| | | Re: Traditional Sunday Lunch Most times there are just my wife and I on Sundays (we don't mind, really). For years we have taken pot luck on Sundays and usually eat quite lightly. We are now in our dotage and find that we do not want large meals. We did not have lunch today but an early dinner - roast lamb, potatoes, swede, celeriac, parsnip, carrots, broccoli and Yorkshire pudding - I had requested suet pudding but had to make do with an inferior but very well cooked substitute. It was super and made a nice change.
Can you believe that we only managed one course?

Colin | It's funny but when I was growing up we 'always' had a sunday roast and me being me (and a female of course!) I've continued this all throughout my life with my family too (except on the very odd occaision when it's been blisteringly hot in the summer - which isn't that often these days ). But now there's just me and James my son who's 11, and I hope that if I continue with this tradition it will wear off onto him and he'll carry on too My parents are in their 70's and still (without fail) have a sunday roast together which I think is great - afterall it may only be the one day that everyone gets to sit down and have a meal 'together' these days
Your meal sounded just the ticket Colin and so did yours too Coasty - hat's off to you for making the effort!
