Re: Traditional Sunday Lunch

Since i have to work every other weekend times have changed traditional Sunday roasts too. But if i had my way i'd have sea food it's my most pleasureable food. I'm a Mussells, Peri Winkles, Prawns, Whelks kinda person-heavily garnished with black pepper!

Re: Traditional Sunday Lunch

I love seafood, I've only ever tried 1 whelk though and it was like eating a bouncy ball, also don't fancy jellied eels although I would try them given the chance but I don't think I'd like 'em.

If your ever in Lyme Regis theres a lovely lady by the cob that has a little seafood stall, lovely cockles I tells ya!

I always cook for her, I get special "treats" that way!

Would of had a roast but we are off to the IOW in the morning so we thought a one pot wonder would do the job and very nice it was too. (although it was a little under seasoned but don't tell her that!)

You didn't say what treats you get. It sounds to me a very plutonical mutal and treatski kinda relationship.

Re: Traditional Sunday Lunch

We had Pasta and sauce all home made. I am not a great lover of Roast Dinners I think it has something to do with my mother she did not make the best roast dinner. (Something she would say herself). I do like my mother-in –laws roasts, and I worry if she were to find out that we do not have a roast every Sunday.

Crikey, that's a mouthfull!

Anyway, my fave seafood is.... well I like all of it tbh, though I must admit I've never tried whelks - looked at them, but just couldn't bring myself to buy and eat some My fave fish is definately seabass though!

i don't have one either, I just make the dough as per any old recipe and then flatten it in my hand to make a square like shape about the size of my palm. (I have very small hands) then I put cheese in it, this time ricotta and make a parcel. It does make it a bit more uneven than doing it in a pasta maker, so you might have to cook it for longer, but them we like quite soft pasta. It is trail and error like a lot of cooking.

Re: Traditional Sunday Lunch

One thing that occurs to me regarding Sunday lunches .... how many people get up in time for them or, of the people who get up, how many are at home at that time of day when they could be out following the wildlife?
Just that I've been wondering why I have so seldom given thought to "Sunday Lunch" for thirty years!

We have roast dinner here (not today though!) which is normally around 5/6 pm, what time do most folks have their Sunday roast?
