Hello I'm Back . . .

Anyone notice I had gone missing?!! Been without computer for 6 weeks plus - I woke up one morning and it didn't - dead as a doornail - after a LOT of heartache (not to mention money) and a huge amount of help this morning (4 hours plus) from a dear friend (and a friend of hers!) I am now back on line . . .

What's more its all singing dancing broadband - yea ha! If I said it had been a nightmare and nothing like the adverts say - 'just plug and go' - yeah right - double nightmare more like it!!

Have to go to work shortly and can't stay and play and look what folk have been up to - and I don't think my boss would accept me throwing a sickie!

We've had a couple of weeks in Cornwall and Exmoor and have some pics which I will get around to posting eventually. . .

Finally a belated thankyou to Steve Fourwings for a cracking day out in his neck of the woods - I wasn't on top form that day because of the heat - but still managed to see a new species - the small red-eyed damsel and what a treat that was. . . pitu I couldn't walk far enough to see the white-legged too - but its not going anywhere and there's always next years WAB dragonfly meet - thanks again Steve - it was a treat.

Finally - finally - my word its good to be back (and won't the husband be depressed tonight when he finds out I'm reconnected and all he can see is the back of my head bent over these keys . . . oooo err!!!)

Welcome back Pauline. I'd hate to think what I would do if if my PC went on the blink. Surprising how a computer is such a 'must have' piece of equipment. What did we do before they came along???????????????? Please don't remind me!

Re: Hello I'm Back . . .

I had noticed you hadn't been around Pauline but had put it down to summer holidays work commitments etc. Anyway great to see you back on line. It was hot at Steve' meet at Priory Waters and I could see you were feeling it.

Look forward to seeing you posting more of your great images in the near future
Roger

Re: Hello I'm Back . . .

Hi John D and Roger - thanks for welcome back - I feel like I've been away forever and yes its frighteneing how dependent we are on this machine lurking in the corner - its a must have fix and my husband recognises this (tho he isn't online yet with his computer!) we shall see once he is and a member here and posting - whether he finds it so attractive too!!

Re the weather - that was the sort of temp where I don't normally go thro the door if I can avoid it - even when there are new 'critters' to tick and bag!!

Hey, great to see you back

Glad you enjoyed it Pauline, it was great to finally meet you, It certainly was a bit on the warm side, excellent for the Dragons but not so great for humans, I'll try and organise a bit cooler weather for next year, hopefully we are aiming for late June & peak emergence.

Steve.

Re: Hello I'm Back . . .

Oh my goodness me folks . . . thank you for the big welcome back! How I wish I had been on a long secret foray - well it wouldn't have to be secret - just long - with no work inbetween - and loads of fungi to ID photograph and drool over!!!

Actually went on a foray at Etherow Country Park with Fungal Punk and Fungi Ken this saturday just gone - we struggled a bit for species but boy did I enjoy it - and remembering several species did wonders for my confidence too.

Just to let you in on the catalogue of disasters befalling me recently (there have been many - I'm wondering just what sins I might have committed in a previous life?!!) the worst one (not actually for me - but the fallout from it affects me) my dear hubby had his Canon 20D and brand new Sigma 150 macro lens fall into the River Hayle in Cornwall last week . . . ouch! We're still waiting to see if it dries out and miraculously begins working again . . . ok stop laughing!

We also spent two days going to ATS in Helston with battery trouble on the camper. . . and one or two other little glitches - but all in all - we had a good holiday with lovely weather (a miracle in itself) and maybe in a week or so's time I will have some images to post and might have caught up on everyone elses from the past 7 weeks . . .

Eeh by gum - its good to be back!

Pauline

Re: Hello I'm Back . . .

Welcome back PMG! I recognised your avatar photo, as I remember you from before, (though back then I was a newbie). Gosh, it must be a huge relief to have finally got back on line & with broadband too, it should make a big difference.
Well, hope to see you back on the boards once again!

Re: Hello I'm Back . . .

Thanks again folks for the continuing welcome back - its really nice . . . I'm like a kid with a new toy tho - how sad is that?! I keep going in the front room to eat, or watch something in particular on the tv or out to work - then I'm back in here and at the click of mouse - up it all jumps . . . none of that listening to it dialling (or more often than not misdialling) and what you wanted finally appeared v e r y s l o w w l y . . . my husband is laughing his socks off at me . . . just wait till he is joined to this machine and he can email - then we will see who is laughing - and you all can enjoy the competition as two greenhalghes slogg it out in the gallery . . . heh heh heh!!!

Re: Hello I'm Back . . .

A big welcome back from me. I know what it's like to be without a computer, as my laptop died a few months ago. I didn't bury it but placed it in storage waiting for a miracle cure. I now use my son's desktop when he's at school or out.

Welcome back

Re: Hello I'm Back . . .

Thanks Tormentil and Ron - my delight at being back and able to chat anytime of the day or night (I can't pass the front room now without drifting in and clicking to see who;s 'talking' or posting!) but I now find I can't post my images - never had that bother before from dial up - so depression is creeping back in again . . . left a message on the technical site probs thread and will wait for Stu or a mod to check and see if its something I'm doing wrong . . .

Pauline

PS Isn't it sad when one's life only feels complete after posting pics to here . . . I'll be baking bread next - ha ha ha! Sorry - just couldn't avoid that jibe after so enjoying reading that particular thread
