Thanks Sven.. might get back into the bread making again.

| | | Re: Your hobbies. Dan, I found it a very easy method.. I used fast start dried yeast which I mixed with the sugar and the butter required.. and spread it on the dough at the first stretch and fold session. It might work better another way though.. but cant see how to add it in a wet form.

My houses on here Dollhouse and miniatures home page | You must have shed-loads of patience geppetto! Very clever indeed.
Have you thought of making miniture houses that are actually nest-boxes? I should think they'd be very marketable.

All this talk of baking!
I thought I'd left all that behind!
I was trained and employed as a skilled craft baker for close to ten years before I packed it in and started doing what I'm doing now, (employed in the environmental sector).
I've baked all over Britain, in olde worlde village bakeries mainly, making pretty well any loaf / bread / roll you could care to mention. No to mention pastries etc...
People ask me to bake them things, or give them recipes etc... and I've got to admit I make a rule and tend not to. It was never really a hobby, it was my trade!
Much happier now, out of the baking world, and doing what I always hoped to.
As for my hobbies now? Sport mainly. Rugby. Running. Tennis. Golf. Swimming. Parachuting (when I can).
Also I'm trying to get back to my painting days. Bought a nice acrylic set t'other day (easel n all) and hope to produce a few pieces over the next year or so.
I like going to gigs too. Rock gigs in the main.
As for reading... I really find ancient history books fascinating, escpecially ancient Egypt, but NOT the "pyramidiology" books.
Well. Thats me!

| Yes, I've got some designs in mind...
Got a big garden and it has ten ordinary nest boxes (well used) scattered about
but I fancy building two or three "special" houses for the little guys..
Won't be going into mass production though, major back problems have put paid
to anything like that |

When I was unemployed I used to make all my own stuff, jam, marmalade, curd cheese, bread, grow mung beans etc (child of the 60's me right down to remembering 'flower children' cept me mother would never let me join in just in case I came into contact with an illegal substance!!!) anyway I'm rambling - I remember my bread recipes used a small amount of milk and I used to put the yeast and sugar in that and leave it in front of the fire to 'grow'. Also was told by my neighbour to put a nugget of butter into bread mix - helps the loaf to have a bit of shelf life - not that a good loaf lasts long!!

jaki | For a minute, earlier, I dreamt I was your Knight in Shining Armour for giving you the 'new' technique. I guess the main thing is you get a good slice now and again.
I made my second batch with the folding method today - as a gift - went down a treat.
Any chance of a baking section here? There seems to be a demand!
