| | | Comedy What's everyone favourate comedy programs? are you into the old style comedy or do you prefere the newer stuff?
I myself love programs like Rising Damp, Porridge and Fawlty Towers from back in the late 70's/early 80's and could watch them all day long. But I also really like some of the more Modern Stuff like The Mighty Boosh, Father Ted and IT crowd
What do you like? |

| | | Re: Comedy Im a fan of some of the older stuff Monty python, porridge and the two ronnies. But mainly also a fan of the stuff I grew up with like Red Dwarf, Fast Show, Smith and Jones, SPACED Goodness gracious me. As for more recent stuff theres is some really unfunny shows around, but then theres also Black books, IT crowd and Mighty Boosh (the live show was BRILLIANT)
Oh nearly forgot the american imports, animated (Simpsons, Family guy, Futurama, American Dad and South Park) and live action, which are usually overrated if occasionaly funny (friends anyone?). Mind you Scrubs is top notch |

| | | Re: Comedy Here's another vote for Black Books (even the menu on the series 2 DVD is funnier than most other programs!) and for Scrubs.
I quite like topical humour too, like Mock the Week. Have I got News for You is always funniest when they have comedians on the panel (well, duh!) but they keep on inviting politicians, journalists or 'celebrities' with the sole aim of embarrassing them. Not a lover of cringe humour myself which is why I'm not as mad about Ricky Gervais as some.
Favourite stand-ups in no particular order: Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey and Eddie Izzard.

| | | Re: Comedy In my opinion the best comedies have been and gone and unfortunately will never reach such heights again.
Who can forget such old classics as Rising Damp, Jasper Carrott, Faulty Towers, Not the nine O'clock news, Red Dwarf, Blackadder and One foot in the grave.
There were, of course, ones even then that were completely unfunny like Absolutely Fabulous (Ahhhhh even now the name haunts me )
Of the vaguely modern stuff I find only the Simpsons funny but even that has gone a bit stale with too many celebs trying to get some free publicity
As for the rest of the modern stuff I cannot say any of them really make me laugh so I think I'll stay in my oldie timewarp. |

I also love Only Fools and Horses. My guineas are called Del-Boy and Rodney....how sad is that!
Vicar of Dibley also one of my all time favourites too.

And you did have to feel sorry for Baldrick and hoped that just one of his "cuuning plans" would come off |

| | | Re: Comedy I'm into Saxondale at the moment, Steve Coogan's new show. I also love some of the older stuff like Fawlty Towers & Monty Python. I've loved Both of Ricky Gervais' shows, The Office & Extras. Spaced was great and I wish they'd do a third series but they are probably too busy making lots of money in movies now.
I've also got my fingers crossed there is at least one more series of Phoenix Nights/Max & Paddy, but heard there had been fall outs between the writers because Pater Kay had taken all the credit. |

Yeah I didn't think much of the first series of Blackadder either, I also didn't think that highly of the second series. When they go ever the top in Blackadder goes forth is probably one of my favourite TV moments and the perfect way to end the series. |

| | | Re: Comedy The trouble with the first series of Blackadder is that it is completely different to the others as Baldrick is clever and Blackadder himself is the halfwit , plus I think the humour is a bit more subtle that the later ones possibly as Ben Elton wasn't involved with the writing.
Oh and that is something I haven't seen for ages Futurama (I thought Bender was funny), possibly better than the Simpsons but for some reason not as popular |

Bender was my favourite character too and in the new movie he is the main character so it should be pretty good apparently they are making a couple of movies followed by a new series. |

And yeah they've got all of the original cast back for it. I heard initially it was going to be three dvd movies but then apparently they decided to go for one movie followed by a new series of Futurama. Hopefully more than just the one new series though. |

Either way Im looking forward to it reappearing on our screens
And as for season 3 of spaced...we can only hope. I think Simon Peggs said he'd like to finsh it off, even if its a one off special. Mind you there is the 3rd in the shaun of the dead, hot fuzz 'triology' to come |

jen xxx | I always found it interesting how peoples humour can differ so much - I personally think Two pints is a bit thin on the ground funny jokes wish and despite watching a good number of the Royal family I never laughed once. Definately didnt deserve the BAFTAs over Spaced, father Ted and the many other good shows around at the time. But to each there own |

| | | Re: Comedy Preferred the Monty Python films over the tv, myself. Loved Blackadder though I thought the the last series was the weakest of the four. Oldies - Porridge, Dad's Army, It ain't half hot mum, Mind Your Language, Never the Twain, The Young Ones - essential watching for a teenager.
Current - Scrubs, The IT Crowd, QI.
Cheers,

However, recently I've been in stitches watching the X-Factor auditions - the rejects are just so bloomin' hilarious lol!
