| | | Poor Cat :( Now I don't pretend to like cats and I'll put up with them if they're not in my garden but my neighbour rang the other day to say her black cat Hermoine had gone missing.
I searched everywhere that I could think she may be hiding and nothing. A day passes and she's still not back.
Yesterday she'd struggled home with a dogs choke chain wrapped tightly around her neck Fortunately there are no physical injuries (other than a sore/bruised neck) but she hasn't left the comfort of the understairs cupboard since - poor thing
Beggars belief eh....

I do think the owners need to take responsibility of their animals then this sort of thing would not happen. If I had a cat the last thing I would do is let it roam around at its own free will killing wildlife and annoying my neighbours. |

I don't think the owners can take responsibility if they're not locked up 24/7?
Yes I'm glad that she's ok too demicav, if not mentally scarred though

| | | Re: Poor Cat :( Oh, that's so cruel. Obviously someone local has done this to her, whether it's a disgruntled gardener or some spiteful kids? Good job she was able to get back home ok, but I doubt she will want to go "walk-about" again, (perhaps that was the intention??)
Like so many other folk on this site, I too suffer with cats using my garden as a toilet and to stalk and kill the wildlife in it. But, I would never stoop to harm/maim a cat. I bet your neighbour was so upset? |

(cat owner) | Although it's impossible to make your cat ignore it's instincts neutering is a good way to dampen a boys' wanderlust .
If everyone was be responsible enough to neuter their cat's and dogs, we wouldn't see so many of the poor souls languishing in shelters.

My cat is neutered and yes he doesn't wander as much as he used to.
However, he still kills on occasion. As naturelover said, a cat's a cat. It's what they do... |

I had to because before I got him neuterd he would keep killing loads of creatures and leaving their open carcases on the door step for me to step on in the morning.
It actually works because I spotted him in the distance with a live mouse in his mouth one day so I shouted NO! and he dropped it because he knew he was up to no good and legged it.
He doesn't do it so much any more now so I think it's a less cruel way to discipline an animal. |

The difference with him is that he prefers to bring mice in alive and watch in amusement as Dad and I catch them - I swear we are the finest mouse wranglers in Somerset!

I spoke to my mum on Sunday (she and my dad live in Somerset with her lovely tortoishell moggie 'Millie') and Millie had brought her a live Mole very early Saturday morning! Mum had to trundle along the lanes in her jim-jams to a nearby field to release the poor thing lol! Cats eh?!?
