Colin McCrae

As well as wildlife i have been a life long motor racing fan ( mostly formula 1) and my brother and step dad have raced in many formulas.
So im particularly saddened to hear of the death ( looking likely) of Rally Champion Colin Mccray in his helecopter crash ( which may have included other memebers of his family including his son).
My feelings go out to his family and to his fans of rally.

Re: Colin McCrae

Hear hear Dan.

I remember seeing Colin around the service areas before he started driving, when his dad Jimmy was the British Champion. I came into contact with him quite a few times when he was driving and I was a stage commander on various events. Always a nice guy, despite the banter from the stage crews about his early habit of chucking the car off into the trees!

If the news reports are correct then my heart goes out to his family.

Colin McRae

What sad news about Colin McRae.

I love the rally and he was an absolute expert and came across as fiercely competitive but a good bloke at the same time.

How ironic that given his pursuits he should be involved in a aircrash

Re: Colin McCrae

I've only just heard this, what shocking news. He was my rallying hero, never gave anything less than his all.
A very sad day.

My thoughts are for his family. What a tragedy. And also for the others on the helicopter.

I was also very sad to hear this, he was a great sportsman and definitely played a part in getting me interested in rally. I still play his game on my psp. RIP

Yes, his young 5 year old son Johnny was also killed, together with his friend and another family friend. It's a terrible tragedy for the rest of his family. What more can you say, he'll be sadly missed, definitely by me.
I'd always thought and hoped that one day Colin would return in some form of motor sport.

It's a sad weekend - and a weekend of co-incidences. Including the two crashes posted above there's BBC NEWS | World | Asia-Pacific | Scores killed in Thai plane crash and BBC NEWS | England | Aircraft death crash pilot named

A sad weekend for many

Re: Colin McCrae

And people ask me why i refuse to fly....

I saw that guy speaking on tv yesterday regarding helecopter safety and colins crash..then he crashes....I reckon its a mafia job...

And in reference to pixies link...when the news broke about colins crash i was watching live on sky news...we had colins crash on the screen then the thailand crash scrolling along the bottom as breaking news plus another crash at a uk air show killing the pilot...i went to my first and onely air show in about 2003 at duxford airshow after telling my mate how dangerous they are as there is always crashes " Dan dont be daft i have been to about 50 air shows ..i go every year since i was about 8 and there has never been a crash..." next minute....plane nose dives straight into the ground killing the two pilots....i watched the rest of the show through the sunroof of his car..wouldnt even get out for a wee.
