| | | Mice and plastic bags My new move sees me wanting to store some things in my new garage. It will be things like my camping gear.
Charlie tells me that there is mice in the garage and I was wondering if wrapping items in heavy bin bags would stop the mice, or will they go straight through them.
Also it is not a flat roof garage, so if I board the beams I could lob some stuff up there too - are the mice likely to go up there? |

| | | Re: Mice and plastic bags Sorry Boddie but I think the mice will go through plastic bin liners as if they were paper. I have even known them go through plastic storage boxes (although these were left undisturbed for some time). As to climbing into the roof area, they will love nothing better.
Suggestion - Trap and get rid of mice before storing in the shed. Then keep traps in place, (inspected daily if of the humane type) forever.

Reason: meant humane not human traps.

I trapped mine and released them in woods several miles away. Got about 15 of them all told.

Dave P. | That is the thing to release them at a great distance from where they were. I have read that they can return from a mile away using smell. This even though they have been taken to their new area by car.

| | | Re: Mice and plastic bags When you have moved them put a sonic bleeper in there. There are free standing ones if no electric. They seem to work once the mice have gone, although if the mouse has babies apparently she will put up with the noise. We had a plague of field mice in the house, they were very sweet but it got completely out of hand and they ate everything stored in the attic. |
