| | | Countryfile magazine Just seen an advert for the new BBC magazine Countryfile which goes on sale on 2nd October. Contents include days out, gear reviews, farming/countryside issues. Doesn't seem particularly wildlife-orientated but may be worth a look. |

As to value, well most magazines are a tad expensive these days. If I need to know anything about countryside issues, I ask you lot !!

There will be a fair bit of wildlife in the mag, if I've anything to do with it.
Hope to hear from you when the mags out to get your feedback.
All the best,

I enjoyed the online 8 page preview very much. And i was pretty chuffed to see you're a lot younger than i thought you would be (ok enough ego boosting). A lot of us here are into activities other than just wildlife including walking, hiking, camping, fishing, mtb 'ing etc...as well as interest in rural/country ways.
Im certainly looking forward to the mag.
Keep up the good work...and if you get stuck on anything im sure we can help you here

Another idea - some articles on weather forecasting please.
All the best with the magazine. I'll certainly be down at the newsagents on publication day.

There's just so much countryside out there with so many angles to take. It's going to be fun. |

Look forward to seeing the magazine next week as I've always been a fan of the TV show on Sunday mornings.
On a bit of a tangent...one thing that's always puzzled me is why the Countryfile calendar raises money for BBC Children in Need and not wildlife and environment causes Will the magazine work in the same way? Is it not-for-profit with all proceeds going back to the BBC or will some of it be passed on to Children in Need, or maybe some wildlife and environment groups?
We're only just keeping our head above water with something like 90% income from google adverts and could definitely do with some funding if there's any available

| | | Re: Countryfile magazine We're part of BBC Worldwide which is the commercial side of the corporation. All BBC magazines generate profit and that profit is then piled back into the BBC to support the licence fee. At the moment we're not planning to have any charitable donations from the magazine although that doesn't mean it would never happen. However, if it did, it would need to be one of the charities that the BBC runs, such as Children in Need.
I hope you all enjoy the mag and would welcome your feedback. It's very exciting knowing it will be on the shelves in just a few days time. I have issue one in my hands right now and can't wait for you all to see it. |

| | | Re: Countryfile magazine Just leafing through issue 1 now - it's looking good Cav. I like the article on cheese shops, and the interview with Andrew Whitley, and the "how to" section, and especially the future of farming article. Not sure about the relocation to the country - it's fine as long as people don't relocate and then try to parkify the country and destroy the very things they thought they'd come for - can't have church bells or cockerels because they make too much noise (sorry, I'm threadnapping my own thread now.)
Anyway, YES, like the mag, will definitely buy again. |

Sections on edible wildfood would be interesting, was looking at Ray Mears new book yesterday, wild food lore and it's consumption is facinating Oooh and welcome Cav, looking forward to your posts

Anyway, YES, like the mag, will definitely buy again. | To be honest we're hoping that the relocation features will actually address situations like that. I want them to be more than just a series of 'ooo, the countryside is so dreamy, why don't you move there'-type features.
Glad you enjoyed the mag.
