| | | Boddie I was just thinking, I wonder how Boddie's doing on his camping trip. I wonder if he's shivering and shaking on a welsh mountainside or he's sat in a pub by the fireside washing down steak and chips with the local brew! |

| | | Re: Boddie Ah yes I had a good weekend but no camping, more of a recce. I have been exploring the Yorkshire moors, from Thirsk through to Jedburgh with a view to some heavy walks in weeks to come. Actually Friday night was a night out with mates in Leicester, which turned into a Saturday morning in Leicester, so my weekend started late. I then took some leisurely time out, travelling up to Yorkshire on Saturday, staying over, then setting out this morning and spent most of the day in the car as the moors were pretty much flooded. I did stop at Hawes to pick up some literature but the weather has been torrential rain up in the moors with plenty of localised flooding so not the best for camping in. I then returned back down the M6 from Jedburgh but the traffic was terrible and a large section of the M6 was nose to tail so there had obviously been some problems. Luckily I managed to get off in time and take a better route and saw some more countryside to explore (also the same traffic jam 8 miles further down the M6, so I thanked my lucky stars). So, all in all, a pretty productive weekend even if my plans changed somewhat. |

So you wimped out! after all the advice about silica gel and freezer bags. Shame on you.

| | | Re: Boddie Not a question of wimping out as I still do not have a tent - pay day is not til the 10th. That said, I would not have camped this weekend. The weather is so poor and although not a fair weatherer it would have been no fun at all in Yorks - poor visibility, no chance of getting the camera out. I took a walk in Hawes and my Merrels are absolutely saturated. The fields were up to 8 inches in water and I am never one to walk round. The splashing about seems a good idea at the time but after a few hours of sodden feet, and blisters starting, the novelty wears off. Just a bad bad weekend and one that has antagonised me further. It seems never ending this year. April and not a good weekend to be had yet |
