| | | Re: Wildlife of Britain Saw issue one in the post office today. It looks very nicely put together but I probably won't subscribe. Space is the main problem. I've collected several partworks in the past including World of Wildlife (11 volumes), The Encyclopedia of Birds (7 volumes), My Garden (4 volumes), The Country Companion (7 volumes), The Photo (7 volumes) and The Blues Collection (6 volumes). All of these are in boxes in the loft because I don't have enough shelf space for them.

| | | Re: Wildlife of Britain These magazines tend to look good- but work out incredibly expensive. Personally I think your money is more wisely invested in some good books in the areas you are interested in! |

Some of the ones I quoted above worked out horribly expensive over the complete series. However, this one is only £1.99 per issue (99p for issue 1) and the binders are free. According to the web site the plan is for 52 issues which will mean 4 volumes of 13 issues each at a total cost of £102.48, or £25.62 per volume. Most large format, hardback wildlife books with full colour photos throughout would cost about the same these days.

| | | Re: Wildlife of Britain I have brought it and ordered it..I think It is really good, great photo's, clearly written and explained well worth the money. also it isn't printed on Plain flimsy paper, but on good quality shiney paper. I know it is expensive when you work out the total cost, but i for one wont miss £1.99 a week. I showed it to my next door neighbour who has ordered it for her 8 year old daughter.

| | | Re: Wildlife of Britain I think we generally agreed - save your £2s for a few weeks and buy some decent reading/reference books. Whether new or second hand it will provide a better return/investment |

| | | Re: Wildlife of Britain I would save my money. A few years ago I subscribed to a fortnightly computer magazine, same format - cheap, free binders etc. but I was still collecting two years later and into the fourth binder so decided to stop the subscription. The magazine's probably still going strong. |

| | | Re: Wildlife of Britain I collected the whole series a few years back (about 10yrs I think) and amassed 5 binders full of them. They certainly were fascinating and interesting to read, but when we moved here (we downsized) I didn't have the space for them all so I donated the whole lot to my sons school just before we left - they were thrilled! |
