Re: More cruelty

I think they must be lacking something mentally. Don't they realise it's wrong ?
Do they think there's no pain involved.
I would willingly give them a damn good thrashing.

Re: More cruelty

It sickens me to the core. The youths of today are pathetic, bring back national service and make real men out of them, they're cowards, pathetic, stupid cowards with nothing better to do as their brains won't stretch far enough. Children should be tought from a young age to respect animals, to me that's part and parcel of being a responsible parent. If parents can't hack it they shouldn't be having kids.

As for the crossbow attacks, this sort of thing seems to be on the increase and the people responsible should be taken to one side and have the same thing done to them, then left to rot in the gutter where they belong. SCUM.

Re: More cruelty

Sadly a lot of kids are treated as badly at home, abuse is often perpetuated......

Not condoning this and if I stumbled across such activity I'm not sure I could react responsibly........

Punishment should obviously be implemented but a damn good thrashing may be all some of these kids have ever known, and if that's the case they will be long since have become immune to it.

An interesting point Gill, but I believe people in bad homes can't afford crossbows etc. The people who carry out these acts have no respect for any decent values.
Just found this link ( no cruel images etc.) these people were on holiday and had a car. They just have contempt for anything civilised and decent.

I agree and couldn't bring myself to read about the Hedgehog and swan, it just sickens me and makes me so sad and angry.

As for the graffiti, why on earth would some one who would do something like that travel to the orkney islands!?!? Surely they should have gone Blackpool for their hols! I hope they catch them and make them pay for the damage.

hi i did read both and yes it made me cry,why o why do humans do things like this i just canot get my head round it,they are worse than animals how can they do such a thing, the things that are going on today are so unbelevable.the human race has changed so much we are much more intelegent now than say 100 years ago,yes we killed animals not for pleasure but to servive, what gets me do people like that think animals and birds cant feel pain or something they must be a bit dim if thats the case,i would love to give them the same treatment thats all they deserve,in my books they are the lowest of low dogs muck on my shoe if you know what i mean, well sorry for blabbing on just had to get it off my chest, dont make me feel any better though.

Re: More cruelty

sick.what kind of a person gets enjoyment out of animals suffering?i wonder if they understand that other living things apart from themselves actually feel pain?is it becoming "cool"to go out and take potshots at swans for fun, with a crossbow?! ,not many kids do this sort of thing ,it's only a small minority, don't forget most of us are pretty sane.....but i think that people should respect living things as things that can suffer and feel pain, not just objects that they can use in any way they like for entertainmentof course, they're always going to be some people who are sick and cruel, for many different reasons and motives.it disgusts me

presumably they pay for the crossbows in the same way they pay for the white lightning , benson and hedges, waccy back , and coke - not to mention the trainers , hoodies, burbery coats, and half soverreign rings.

i dont think national service is the answer tho - all that would do is take cowardly little thugs and turn them into big hard thugs with firearms training

and as to giving them a good kicking i dont like your chances - unless you go team handed.

How do you learn decent values if you've never been taught - let alone experianced them?

i think keiths point was that a lot of these little yobs are not from deprived backgrounds at all (tho of course some are) - when i was a ranger we used to regularly catch vandals , muggers , theives, and general hooligans who were from a middle class background and who's mummy and daddy were generally either horified , or in some cases in denial (my little darling wouldnt do such a thing)

one case comes to mind where i apprehended two little (15 and 16) scrotes who were feeding swans bits of bread heavily laced with paracetamol powder ( one bird died from the over dose , one recovered after a stomach pump) the parents of these charming asets to society were in one case a doctor and a stockbroker , and in the other a police inspector and a bank manager. they werent in the slightest deprived they were just nasty little ooooooo

the other downside was of course that mummy and daddy could afford major legal representation and the two got off in one case scot free ( "he was led astray by the nasty big boys" ) and in the other with a caution ( "he didnt realise the harm he could cause and hes really sorry" ) which really showed them the error of their ways

Justice and nature would have been much better served had i just given them both a good kicking , but uinfortunately i didnt fancy losing my job

hi the trouble today we have all gone soft on kids, thats why they are doing what they like and getting away with it,i had a few bashes in my child hood didnt do me any harm, and i was the same with my three boys you have to show them that you are the boss and they do as you say not what they want.It worked for my mum and dad and it worked for me,my sister myself and the boys are all nature lovers and will be till our dieing day.

You're probably right, but cruelty to animals is a very emotive subject, I'm afraid I'd get emotive - and give them a good thrashing.

yes, show them who's boss by all means, but at least in a reasonable manner.i'm sorry if that's what you meant, but it sounded a bit extreme,i've never agreed with physical punishment .
