Gorilla slaughter.

Wondered if anyone else had seen this on the news, the harrowing slaughter of 4 protected mountain Gorillas, one of which was pregnant.

Re: Gorilla slaughter.

With a bit of luck, someone will shoot the poachers.

i told cresshed101 that we as humans are Nature. These are our closest rels. How do we teach others just that? Palm oil is stripping away our Orang Utans habits too!!! We need to wisen up & be educated to this devastation and protect our concestors and Say No to Palm Oil. A Complete Ban

Re: Gorilla slaughter.

Must catch the poachers....stop the market for bushmeat. A gorilla needs to be more valuable alive than dead to people living there.

Re: Gorilla slaughter.

Having just seen the news report I feel ashamed to call myself a member of the human race, four beautiful animals dead because of mans greed, we that are committed to helping and protecting nature have to carry on hopefully to save something out of the mess we humans seem to be making of everything.

Re: Gorilla slaughter.

In a world that is only interested in economic growth and selfish goals what can you really expect. Animals to those people are a commodity. They don't have remorse or our western sensibilities that were taught to us by Disney. If you really want to change their attitude then you have to change their social and cultural identities to not 'copy what us westerners have done for the past hundred years' i.e. rape and ravage the earth's resources, but to immediately take on the ideology that some of us, who are sick of the greed, want to follow. Unfortunately, I think that you have about as much chance of that as a last minute landslide at the American polls in favour of a black, female president.

People often talk about these horrendous acts, but rarely define the reality of the situation. These poachers don't have our history from which they can learn and, unless we can create an economic stability and affluence in their country, where material goods outweigh the value of animals, there will be no progress.

I hope that I am sincerely wrong in my assessment.

Re: Gorilla slaughter.

Here is a chance to make a difference and try to prevent this atrocity from happening again. The Zoological Society of London are collecting donations at the following URL:

Please be generous.
