Never mind the bollards

Absolutely nothing to do with nature (except the stupid nature of some motorists) but a good giggle on a rainy day:

Laugh I nearly!!!!!!!!! I have another picture involving workmen and bollards but I'm not sure where to upload it to. Is there a silly/funny picture section?

Re: Never mind the bollards

that's a great photo BWD

Regarding the Manchester bollards, they do look a bit dangerous to me. Imagine you were in heavy traffic and were following a bus fairly closely (as you often do in city centres). The bus would pass over the bollards and hide them from your view until WHAM! it's too late. I'm sure there are plenty of warning signs, but then you often face sign overload in city centres. They must be able to come up with a safer option.

That said, I've no sympathy for the tailgaters who knew what they were doing.

Matt

Re: Never mind the bollards

We have similar bollards in the city of Cambridge; along with copious warning signs. These don't seem to make any difference and there are frequent cases of impaled cars. Perhaps the signs should be in the form of histograms or pictures - people don't seem to be able to read, and Cambridge is full of foreign visitors - come to think of it, most of them can probably read English better than many of the locals.

Re: Never mind the bollards

I'd like to see these bollards topped-off with tungsten carbide spikes.

If you're gonna impale something do it properly!
